Obituaries THEODORE C. KESTER, 78, of Perth Amboy died Dec. 11 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy. Born in Scranton, Pa., he lived in Union Beach prior to moving to Perth Amboy seven years ago. He was a chemical operator for Smith Kline Beecham, Piscataway, for 20 years before retiring in 1986. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. He is survived by three sons, Gary Kester of Barnegat, Richard Kester of Hazlet, and David Kester of Perth Amboy; a sister, Anna Mae Kuell of Middlesex; and six grandchildren. Services were arranged by Day Funeral Home, Keyport, with a Mass celebrated at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. Cremation was at Rosehill Crematory, Linden. Memorial donations may be made to Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, 727 Route 36, Union Beach 07735. VICTORINO A. TUBERION, 84, of Union Beach died Dec. 12 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Liverpool, England, he lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., prior to moving to Union Beach 53 years ago. He was a police officer for the Union Beach Police Department for 12 years, retiring in 1982. He served in the U.S. Army 94th Infantry Division during World War II and in the Korean War. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Lodge No. 4247 and Elks Lodge No. 249, both in Keyport. He was also a member of the Fort Monmouth Disabled Veterans. He is survived by his wife, Marie Khonova Tuberion of Union Beach; two sons, Edward Tuberion of Keyport, and Victor Tuberion of Union Beach; three grandsons; and two great-granddaughters. Services were arranged by Day Funeral Home, Keyport. A Mass was celebrated at Holy Family Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. Burial was at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet. MARIA DAVIS DETTMERING, 98, of Holmdel died Dec. 13 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Hoboken, she lived there until moving to Holmdel 15 years ago. She was an assembler for Squibb Collapsible Tube Co., Brooklyn, N.Y., for 25 years before retiring in 1964. She was a member of Holy Innocence Episcopal Church, Hoboken. She is the last surviving sibling of 10 brothers and sisters. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Dettmering, in 1969. She is survived by two nieces, Joan Straten of Holmdel, and Eileen Pilgrim of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown; two nephews, Mathew Finnerty of Port Monmouth, and Frank Finnerty of Middletown; nine great-nieces and nephews; and 15 great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Services were arranged by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, with a Mass at Trinity Episcopal Church, Matawan. Interment was at Crest Haven Cemetery, Clifton. ROSE P. FISCHETTI, 87, of Hazlet, died Dec. 13 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she lived there until moving to Hazlet 14 years ago. She was a past member of St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church Altar Rosary Society and Seniors Club, Matawan. She was also a member of the Minnisink Seniors, Matawan. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony Fischetti, in 1978. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Anthony and Judy Fischetti of Aberdeen; her brother, Ferdinand DiCresento of Brooklyn; and two granddaughters, Daria and Jessica. Services were arranged by Waitt-Nelms Funeral Home, Morganville section of Marlboro. A Mass was said at St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church, Matawan, and burial was at Holy Cross Cemetery, Brooklyn. Born in Manchester, N.H., he lived in New York City for 20 years and lived in Port Monmouth the last 28 years. He was a furrier for Schultz Furs, Millburn, for four years and retired in 1992. Prior to that he was a furrier for several years for George Pinou and Sons, New York City. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Rosemarie Ginorio Cornell of Port Monmouth; a son, Christopher G. Cornell of Ocean Grove; a sister, Cassie Gountanis of Winchester, Mass.; and two nieces, Carol Hazelton of Marstons Mills, Mass. and Nancy Donaldson of Chelmsford, Mass. Services were arranged by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, with a Mass at Kimisis Tis Theotokou Greek Orthodox Church, Holmdel. Interment was at Holmdel Mausoleum, Holmdel. JONES, 71, of Atlantic Highlands, died Dec. 15 at Atlantic Highlands Nursing Home, Middletown. She was born in Jersey City and lived in Keansburg from 1965 until 1998, when she moved to Atlantic Highlands. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. She was predeceased by her husband, Edward Jones, in 1988. She is survived by three sons, Edward Jones of Keyport, William Jones of Keansburg, and Robert Thompson of Jersey City; a daughter, Rosemary Thompson of Jersey City; a sister, Julie Heickne of Jersey City; and two grandsons, Ryan and Edward Jones. Funeral service is Dec. 21 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Interment will be at Brig. Gen. William Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown. JAMES P. DUNN, 69, of Keansburg died Dec. 17 at Beachview Extended Care Facility, Keansburg. Born in Roselle, he previously lived in Hazlet, Belford and Roselle before moving to Keansburg two years ago. He was a driver for Apache Tomatoes, Colts Neck, for 13 years and retired in 1995. Prior to that he was a mechanic for Gold Petroleum, Red Bank. He was a member of the North Shore Antique Car Club. He is survived by three sons, John Dunn of Florida, James Dunn of Little Silver, and Daniel Dunn of Middletown; a daughter, Judy Laura of Middletown; two sisters, Mary Kovack of Lakehurst and Betty Jacobsen of Middletown; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services are Dec. 21 at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. VERNA C. PARISI, 81, of Atlantic Highlands died Dec. 18 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Pennsylvania, she was a lifelong resident of Matawan before moving to Atlantic Highlands three years ago. She was a cook and seamstress. She was a communicant of St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was predeceased by her husband, Carmen A. Parisi Sr., in 1967; her son, Carmen A. Parisi Jr., in 1988; and her son, Rocco Parisi, in 1999. She is survived by three daughters, Ann Mueller of Union Beach, Roseann Mancini of Wickatunk, and Veronica Pittius of Hazlet; three sisters, Ann Kenney of Philadelphia, Mary Breiling of Wilkes-Barre, Pa., and Catherine Mushala of Hunlock, Pa.; two brothers, Steve and Paul Sinay, both of Wilkes-Barre; 16 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. Services are under the direction of Day Funeral Home, Keyport. Interment will be Dec. 21 at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport. |
