MARIE A. HERMANNS, 75, of Middletown died July 11 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Jersey City, she resided in Middletown the last 40 years. She was employed for several years at Lock Stock and Barrel, Rumson, retiring in 1973. She was an active volunteer and fund-raiser for Deborah Heart and Lung Center, Browns Mills, from whom she received several awards for her years of service. An accomplished artist, she received many ribbons and awards in local and state shows for her paintings. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert A. Hermanns, in 1984. She is survived by two daughters, Carol Gormally of Litchfield, Conn., and Gail Hermanns of Asbury Park; her son, Robert A. Hermanns of Middletown; and one granddaughter. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Memorial donations may be made to Deborah Hospital Foundation, N.J. Region, P.O. Box 820, Browns Mills 08015-0820.

JOHANNAH B. GRASSI, 74, of Hazlet died Sept. 1 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she lived there until relocating to Hazlet 23 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her brother, Francis Whalen in 1999. She is survived by her husband, Patrick Grassi of Hazlet; her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Jennifer Grassi of Van Nuys, Calif.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kristine and Richard Broschart of Hazlet, and Tesa and Michael Biamonte of Dunedin, Fla.; two sisters, Rita O’Neil of Flemington, and Loretta Docken of Montclair; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Hazlet.

DANIEL I. BENNETT, 86, of Keansburg died Sept. 4 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Middletown, he lived in Keansburg most of his life. He was a truck driver for Hutchinson Inc., Matawan, for 35 years, retiring in 1981. He was also a produce peddler in Keansburg for 35 years. He was a communicant of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. His club affiliations included the Twin Hill Rod Hunting Club, and Pine Rod & Gun Club, Jackson. He was predeceased by his wife, Marguerite Creevy Bennett, in 1999. He is survived by three sons, Daniel Bennett of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, Alton Bennett of Middletown, and Richard Bennett of the Belford section of Middletown; two daughters, Barbara Colton of Union Beach, and Joan Davis of Middletown; 14 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, followed by burial at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.

FLORENCE MARCUS JANKOWITZ, 84, formerly of East Brunswick and Hazlet, died Sept. 4 in the Central New Jersey Jewish Home for the Aged, Somerset section of Franklin. Her husband, Louis, died in 1978. Surviving are a daughter, Sharon Margolin of Monroe; and three grandchildren. Graveside services were held at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge. Memorial contributions may be made to the Central New Jersey Jewish Home for the Aged, 380 DeMott Lane, Somerset, NJ 08873; or to Temple B’nai Shalom, P.O. Box 957, East Brunswick, NJ 08816.

JOSEPH C. LeROSE, 71, of Hazlet died Sept. 5 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in North Bergen, he lived in Fairview prior to moving to Hazlet 40 years ago. He was a retired technician for J.C. Penney Testing Lab, New York City, for 15 years. Prior to that, he was a technician for US Testing Co., Hoboken. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post No. 07164, Iselin; as well as an amateur radio operator with the call sign "KB2RVH." He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Joan Kraemer LeRose of Hazlet; his daughter, Sharon LeRose of Hazlet; and his son, Joseph LeRose of Middletown. A funeral service was held at King of Kings Lutheran Church, Middletown, followed by burial at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.

JOHN F. GOELLER, 43, of Irving, Texas, formerly of Hazlet, died Sept. 7 at Baylor Medical Center, Irving. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived in Irving the past 20 years. He is survived by his parents, James E. Goeller and Catherine R. McCullough of Hazlet; his brother and sister-in-law, Michael and Diane Goeller of Hazlet; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and John Diemer of Hillsborough, Kathleen and Miles Booth of Ellicott, Md.; and Elizabeth Goeller and Thad Matthews of Richmond, Va.; and his grandmother, Florence McCullough of Hazlet. A funeral service will be held Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, followed by interment at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.

JENNIE SCHNEIDER, 91, of Red Bank died Sept. 1 at Navesink House, Red Bank. Born in Poland, she lived in Middletown and Queens, N.Y., prior to moving to Red Bank seven years ago. She was a retired cashier for Horn and Hardart, New York City, for several years. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert Schneider. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Albert J. and Donna Schneider of Juno Beach, Fla.; her daughter-in-law, Laura Schneider; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. HERBERT F. COFFEY, 74, of the New Monmouth section of Middletown died Sept. 6 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Jersey City, he resided in New Monmouth for the past 45 years. He was a director of foreign acquisitions for Merck Pharmaceuticals, Rahway, for 35 years, retiring 11 years ago. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, in Hawaii and the Philippines. His memberships included the Middletown Board of Health for eight years, and a volunteer accountant for the AARP for 10 years. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janet Breitkreitz of New Monmouth; his son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Cynthia Coffey of the Lincroft section of Middletown; two daughters and sons-in-law, Carol and Thomas Erbig of Middletown, and Barbara and John Cleary of Lincroft; two sisters, Grace Colino of Lyndhurst, and Rose Marie McCahill of Red Bank; and seven grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, followed by burial at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.

FLOYD BROWN, 84, of Middletown, Del., died Sept. 7 at home. Born in Morganville, he resided in Matawan and Willingboro prior to moving to Middletown five years ago. He was an engineer for Hercules Power, Parlin, for 44 years, retiring in 1983. He was past exalted ruler, district deputy and state officer and treasurer of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks (BPOE) Lodge No. 2550, Edgewater Park. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Helen Robinson Brown of Middletown, Del.; two sons, F. Leonard Brown of Boynton Beach, Fla., and Robert P. Brown of Middletown, Del.; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold.

JEAN A. KOSACH, 76, of Hazlet died Sept. 8 in Holmdel. Born in Olyphant, Pa., she lived in Iselin prior to moving to Hazlet eight years ago. She was a salesperson for Bambergers, Menlo Park, for five years, retiring in 1965. She was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Kosach, in 1994. She is survived by her son, Kevin Kosach of Granville, N.Y.; her daughter, Joanne Kubulak of Perth Amboy; and her brother, Sam Acquisto of Hazlet. A funeral Mass will be held Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, followed by burial at St. James Cemetery, Woodbridge.

MADELINE B. ADER, 81, of Hingham, Mass., formerly Union Beach, and Glen Ellyn, Ill., died Sept. 9 at Norwell Knoll Nursing Home, Norwell, Mass. Born in Union Beach, she lived most of her life there. She was the retired proprietor of Ader’s Bar, Union Beach. She was predeceased by her husband, George J. Ader, in 1964; her daughter, Lorriane Wotton; two sisters, Ame Monroe and Lillian Coffey; and two brothers, Michael Young and Benjamin Young. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Georgette and John Sullivan of Hingham, Mass.; two stepdaughters, Jean Pederson and Doris Strang, both of Keyport; her brother, Frank Young of the New Monmouth section of Middletown; and three grandchildren. Visitation will be Sept. 12 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at Day Funeral Home, Keyport. A funeral Mass will be offered Sept. 13 at 9:45 a.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach, followed by burial at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.

JEFFREY D. SULLIVAN, 41, of Keyport died Sept. 9 at the home of a friend. Born in Orange, he lived in Hopatcong for 15 years prior to moving to Keyport. He was a freelance artist. He is survived by his wife, Kim Storch Sullivan; his daughter, Michelle Sullivan; two stepsons, Matthew and David; his parents, Frederick and Carol Schmidlin Sullivan; two brothers, Michael and Brian Sullivan; and a sister, Patricia Forgione. Visitation will be Sept. 12 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m.; and a funeral service will be Sept. 13 at 10 a.m. at Paul Ippolito Memorial, Orange, followed by burial at Rosedale Cemetery, Orange.
