Live nativity at King of Kings Church Dec. 16-17

King of Kings Church, Middletown, will host a live nativity featuring the youth of the church Dec. 16 and 17 at 7:30 p.m. Refreshments will be served following the performance.

The church is located at Harmony and Cherry Tree Farm Road, Middletown.

Playhouse to hold New Year’s Eve event

The First Avenue Playhouse, 123 First Ave., Atlantic Highlands, will hold its annual New Year’s Eve event Dec. 31 at 7 p.m. at the playhouse.

Cost is $75 per person, which includes wine and hors d’oeuvres, a buffet, the play Grandma’s Getting Married, dancing to music provided by a DJ, and champagne at midnight.

Post No. 338 to hold New Year’s Eve party

American Legion Post No. 338, Leonardo section of Middletown, will hold its New Year’s Eve party Dec. 31, beginning at 8 p.m., at the post hall on Route 36 (next to Leonardo Motel), Leonardo.

The cost is $25 per person and $50 per couple, and proper attire is requested. The party will feature a hot-and-cold buffet, a [limited] open bar, and musical entertainment by Winston.

Live nativity display

at St. Mary’s Dec. 17-31

St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church will host a live nativity scene Dec. 17-31 on the rectory grounds. The scene will feature goats, sheep and other animals. The church and rectory are at 26 Leonardville Road, New Monmouth section of Middletown

‘Cherish the Ladies’ at Brookdale Dec. 18

Brookdale Community College, Newman Springs Road, Lincroft section of Middletown, will present a concert by "Cherish the Ladies" Dec. 18 at 8 p.m. in the college’s performing arts center. Sponsors are Brookdale’s Irish Heritage series and the Friendly Sons of St. Patrick of the Jersey Shore.

Cherish the Ladies is a traditional Irish music group based in New York-based. The women are accomplished on several instruments that are part of Irish music such as the tin whistle, bodhran, fiddle and flute. Also performing will be Irish step dancers.

‘Pre-New Year’s Video Dance’ Dec. 27

The Middletown Township Department of Parks & Recreation will sponsor a "Pre-New Year’s Video Dance Party" Dec. 27 from 1-4 p.m. The dance will be held at the Middletown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179, Route 36, Port Monmouth section of Middletown.

The dance is for children in grades K-5 (parents are welcome). Admission is $2 for students. There will be karaoke, a DJ, games, contests and giveaways. Refreshments will be available for purchase. Three holiday trips offered by park system

The Monmouth County Park System will offer a trip to the Cloisters of the Metropolitan Museum, and the Cathedral Church of St. John, both New York City, Dec. 18. The bus will depart at 8 a.m. and return approximately 5 p.m.

Cost is $42 per person which includes transportation, admission for St. John’s and Cloisters’ tours, and a park system leader.

"A Day in New York City" will take place Dec. 19 from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and a "New York City Shopping Spree" will be Dec. 22 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. (approximate).

Cost for either of the above trips is $18.50 per person, which covers transportation and park system leader.

Attendees will be dropped off/picked up in the vicinity of Rockefeller Center and may explore, shop, dine or see a show.

Trip to see Jets vs. Bills slated for Dec. 30

The Monmouth County Park System will sponsor a bus trip to the New York Jets versus Buffalo Bills football game at Giants Stadium, East Rutherford, Dec. 30 at 10:15 a.m. Cost is $95 which includes transportation and ticket, and preregistration is required.

The bus will depart from Thompson Park, 805 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft section of Middletown.
