Club’s efforts responsible for Bayshore Terrace park

It is good to see the minipark in Keyport being used for many special occasions. For the record, this park was made available through the efforts of The Woman’s Club of Keyport in 1975 with cooperation from the Keyport High School honor society and the late mayor, Richard Bergen.

Rutgers University advised of the planting, and a contest was held to name the park. Judy Donaldson won with the name "Bayshore Terrace Park." A plaque was placed but, sad to say, it was destroyed by vandals. However, it is still a tribute to those who saw it as a positive part of downtown. Money was contributed by service clubs, and many hours were spent to create the park.

The Woman’s Club won an award at the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs convention for this community improvement project.
