Community Bulletin Board The Lloyd Road Elementary School PTO, Matawan, will hold a spring fashion show and gift raffle March 21 at 6:30 p.m. at St. Clement’s banquet center, 172 Freneau Ave., Matawan. For more information, call Pat U. at (732) 566-9464. ‘Read Across America’ honored at Strathmore The Red Bank-based Community YMCA’s Y-KIDS after-school program will participate in the fifth annual "Read Across America" program March 1 at 4 p.m. at Strathmore School, 282 Church St., Aberdeen. Kathy Borgone, a representative from J.C. Penney, Brunswick Square Mall, East Brunswick, will visit the school to read to the children. "The YMCA is the nation’s largest provider of school-age child care," said Richard W. Pollock, president and CEO of The Community YMCA. "Our program is far more than simple latch-key; we are really working to support literacy and assist kids with homework as well as to experience some down time before and after school." The Community YMCA currently operates 11 after-school programs in seven Monmouth County school districts. Woman’s Club takes orders for ‘Daffodil Days’ The Woman’s Club of Middletown will support the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) "Daffodil Days" by accepting orders for fresh-cut and potted daffodils through Feb. 28. Cost is $7 for a bouquet of 10, and $8 for a potted plant. Also available is a "gift of hope" for $15, consisting of a vase and bunch of daffodils to be delivered to a health-care facility designated by the ACS. To place an order, call (732) 671-0615. The club’s next daytime meeting will be March 7 at noon at the educational building of the Middletown Reformed Church, 121 Kings Highway. Guest speaker will be Jennifer Pettit-McDonough who will present "A History of Women’s Clubs." The next evening meeting will be March 14 at 7:30 p.m., also in the educational building. Library offers ‘Big Band Music’ revue March 7 Middletown Township Public Library, 55 New Monmouth Road, will present "Big Band Music" revue by Leiza Michaels March 7 at 7:30 p.m. The free program, sponsored by The Friends of the Middletown Township Public Library, will feature music by Tommy Dorsey, Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw and others. Michaels has appeared on Broadway in Grand Hotel. She has also performed backup vocals for Liza Minnelli and Ben Vereen, and performed shows for a New York City-based group that brings entertainment to the ill, elderly and less fortunate. St. Patrick’s dinner-dance offered in Middletown Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179, Port Monmouth section of Middletown, will hold a St. Patrick’s dinner-dance March 8 from 8 p.m. to 1 a.m. The event will be at the post home at 1 Veterans Lane. Cost is $25, and tables of 10 or more may be reserved. The menu will feature corned beef and cabbage, and Irish soda bread. Shore music association meeting slated March 8 The Shore Music Educators’ Association, Long Branch, will hold its next meeting March 8 at 9:45 a.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Meetinghouse, 1475 W. Front St., Lincroft section of Middletown. Guest speaker will be Vladislav Kovalsky, concert pianist and director of the Monmouth Conservatory, Red Bank. He will discuss his early piano instruction in Russia and how it relates to American notions of Russian piano technique.
