EUGENE P. BEAGEN, 76, of Hazlet died Nov. 10 at Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Holmdel. Born in Jersey City, he resided in the Port Monmouth and Leonardo sections of Middletown prior to moving to Hazlet three years ago. Mr. Beagen was a retired traffic operator at Hatco Chemical, Fords, for 31 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was predeceased by three sisters, Marie Prepiak, Margaret Pello and Julia Kluin; and a brother, Matthew Beagen. He is survived by his wife, Joanne Quinn Beagen; two daughters and one son-in-law, Linda Crimaldi of Wall Township, and Colleen and Michael Carlo of the Lincroft section of Middletown; his son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Karen Beagen of Hazlet; three brothers, Michael Beagen of Freehold, Joseph Beagen of Pasadena, Texas, and Peter Beagen of Red Bank; two sisters, Patricia Davis of New Port Richey, Fla., and Katherine Beagen of Ocean Grove; eight grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Visitation will be Nov. 13 from 4-7 p.m., and a funeral gathering at 6:30 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.

EILEEN C. BURKE, 79, of Rumson died Nov. 9 at home. Born in Jersey City, she lived in Middletown prior to moving to Rumson in 1972. She worked part-time in newspaper advertising sales. Prior to that, she was a secretary at NBC, New York City, before marriage. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas R. Burke, in 1991; her sister, Marie Bowen; and her brothers, John, Joseph, Walter and Frank Gavin. She is survived by her daughter, Patricia M. Cummings of Rumson; her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Susan Cummings of Rumson; and three granddaughters. A funeral gathering will be Nov. 13 at 9 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral liturgy will follow at 10 a.m. at Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Rumson. Burial will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. THERESA RITA HAYDUK, 80, of Middletown died Nov. 8 at home. Born in New York City, she had lived in Wiesbaden, Germany, and in New York, Florida and California prior to moving to Middletown in 1968. Before her retirement in 1990, Mrs. Hayduk was a title searcher for 10 years at Hayduk Abstractors, Freehold, which she co-owned with her husband. Prior to that, she was a teacher’s aide at St. Mary’s Catholic School, New Monmouth section of Middletown, from 1976-82. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth, where she was a member of the Catholic Daughters. She was predeceased by her sister, Dolly Borsellino; and a brother, Michael DeGasperis. She is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Ronald and Susanna Hayduk of New York City, and Kenneth Hayduk of McLean, Va.; her brother, Louis DeGasperis of Margate, Fla.; her sister-in-law, Amelia DeGasperis of New York City; her grandson; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral liturgy will be offered Nov. 13 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, New Monmouth. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

ANNA VALULICK, 68, of Middletown died Nov. 11 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Mayfield, Pa., she lived in Avenel for 33 years prior to moving to Middletown five years ago. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Valulick in 1999. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Paula and Bernd Bohnenberger of Middletown; and one granddaughter. Visitation will be Nov. 13 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral liturgy will be offered Nov. 14 at 10 a.m. at St. Peter and Paul Russian Orthodox Church, South River. Burial will be at Rosedale Cemetery, Linden.

GILBERT WEASE HARVILLE, 43, of Aberdeen died Oct. 27 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Long Branch, he lived most of his life in Aberdeen. He was employed by the Aberdeen Department of Public Works. He was a member of Providence Baptist Church, Aberdeen, where he also served as a soloist, drummer, and member of the choir. His activities included playing drums, composing music, and poetry. He was predeceased by his parents, Lasker and Elnora Underwood Harville; and a brother, Douglas Harville. He is survived by three brothers, three sisters, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. A funeral liturgy was held at Mount Moriah Baptist Church, Aberdeen. Interment was at Midway Green Cemetery, Aberdeen.

THOMAS J. BRENNAN, 74, of Middletown died Oct. 30 at Bayshore Health Care Center, Holmdel. Born in Sligo, Ireland, he came to the United States in 1949 and lived in New York City prior to moving to Middletown 47 years ago. He was a machinist for Molecu Wire Company, Farmingdale, for 30 years, retiring in 1990. He was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. He was a life member in both the Middletown Fire Company No. 1, and the Irish Federation of Monmouth County, and a 15-year member of Fair View First Aid, Middletown. He won the St. Brendon Award from the Friendly Sons of the Shillelagh in 1987. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Philomena "Phyllis" Brennan of Middletown; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Marian and Philip Ilaria of Fair Haven, Eileen Carter of Syracuse, N.Y., and Phyllis and Anthony Viola of Doyletown, Pa.; his son, Thomas A. Brennan of Houston, Texas; three sisters, Mary Kilcullen of Middletown, Anne Murphy of the Belford section of Middletown, and Kathleen O’Hara of Ireland; his brother, Peter Brennan of Chicago, Ill.; and four grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Entombment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

JAMES V. GIACCIO, 76, of Aberdeen died Oct. 30 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Jersey City, he resided there until moving to Aberdeen four years ago. He was the owner and operator of Star Industries, Jersey City, for 50 years, retiring in 1998. He served with the U.S. Air Force during World War II. He was predeceased by his wife, Elizabeth Dullea Giaccio in 1990. He is survived by two sons, Peter Giaccio of Jersey City, and James E. Giaccio of Summit; two daughters, BetteAnne Giaccio of Plainfield, and Kathleen Hess of Aberdeen; two sisters, Constance Petrillo and Joan Festa, both of Aberdeen; and six grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.

SOPHIE MACKIEWICZ BORUCKI, 92, of Middletown died Oct. 31 at Beachview Extended Care Facility, Keansburg. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she lived there until moving to Middletown in 1969. She was a communicant of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. She was also a member of the Bayshore Senior Center. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph W. Borucki in 1977; and a daughter, Joan Lotito in 1997. She is survived by four sons, Joseph Borucki of New Windsor, N.Y.; Walter Borucki of Sun City, Ariz.; Richard Borucki of Middletown; and John Borucki of Union Beach; her daughter, Irene Coons of Red Bank; 13 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

VIOLA T. BEDNARZ NOBLE, 73, of the New Monmouth section of Middletown died Oct. 31 at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center, New Brunswick. Born in Linden, she resided in Atlantic Highlands prior to moving to New Monmouth two years ago. She was a cashier at A & P Supermarket, Navesink section of Middletown, for 10 years, as well as at Sal’s Original, Shrewsbury. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Veterans of Foreign Wars No. 2179, Port Monmouth section of Middletown. She was predeceased by her husband, James Noble in 1992. She is survived by four sons, Joseph Mulrain of Toms River, Michael Mulrain of Jackson, William Mulrain of Middletown, and Warren Noble of New Monmouth; two daughters, Anne Kiely of Mount Arlington, and Valerie Noble of Atlantic Highlands; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

DR. IRVING S. WALLACE, 87, of Middletown died Oct. 31 at the Central N.J. Jewish Home for the Aged, Somerset, after battling Alzheimer’s disease. He was a retired optometrist, working in Middletown from 1956-2000. He also practiced optometry in Union City and, upon graduation from Northern Illinois College of Optometry, he examined pilots’ eyes in the Navy. He was a member of Congregation Beth Shalom, and B’nai Brith, Red Bank. He served on the Middletown Township Safety Council for 35 years until 2000. He was a 44-year member of the Monmouth-Ocean Society of Optometric Physicians, served as the post surgeon at the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Middletown, and was the commander of the Jewish War Veterans, Union City. He was also a member of the Hazlet Stamp Club and the American Civil Liberties Union. He was predeceased by his wife of 59 years, Florence Wallace, in 2000. He is survived by his son, Hank Wallace of Washington, D.C. His body was willed to the New Jersey Medical School for medical education and research. A memorial program will be held in Middletown next spring.

JOHN J. LaFALCE, 76, of Hazlet died Nov. 1 at home. Born in Newark, he resided in Hazlet the past 43 years. He was a truck driver for Branch Motors, Newark, for 43 years, retiring in 1985. He was a communicant of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II, attaining the rank of seaman first class. He was a member of Local 478 Teamsters, Newark, and the Teamsters Retirement Club, Hazlet. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, MaryAnn Leonard LaFalce of Hazlet; four sons, John J. LaFalce Jr. of Howell, William J. LaFalce of Little Egg Harbor, Jamie J. LaFalce of Carteret, and Robert J. LaFalce of Hazlet; two daughters, Johna M. Karpinski of Tinton Falls and Nicole Knochel of Atlantic Highlands; his brother, Harry LaFalce of Jacksonville, Fla.; and eight grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.
