Supporters of veterans group’s poppy campaign thanked

Each year, during the Memorial Day week the Veterans of Foreign Wars distributes poppies and accepts donations from the public.

The donations are dedicated to, and can only be used to, assist needy veterans and their families.

Some of the examples of our dispensing of the proceeds made by our post are to the state Memorial Home for Disabled Veterans, Edison; the National Children’s Home, Eaton Rapids, Mich.; and the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge Memorial.

Additional donations are made to worthy causes during the course of the year.

The comrades of our Post wish to thank all the residents who have so generously contributed to this poppy fund.

We are thankful for the local businesses that have accommodated our comrades by allowing us to distribute the poppies at their locations.

In particular, we thank Dearborn Farms, Lowes, and the A & P food stores, all of Holmdel; as well as the Pathmark store in Hazlet.

Some of the merchants have policies that will not permit or participate in our program, which is only performed during the Memorial Day period.

We remember and God bless America and all of its veterans, living and deceased.
