Park’s art, ceramics classes begin Sept. 7

The Monmouth County Park System will hold a seven-session adult artwork class to teach techniques and skills for decorating and glazing ceramic items Tuesdays from 9 a.m.-noon and 1-4 p.m. Sept. 7 through Oct. 19. Students will work with greenware, bisque, underglazes and stains, and cost of each program is $62.50 per person.

Adult pottery classes will start with beginners wheel pottery Wednesdays from 9 a.m.-noon Sept. 8 through Oct. 20. Advanced wheel pottery will be Thursdays from 9 a.m.-noon Sept. 9 through Oct. 21. Cost for each program is $97.50, and includes glazes, firing and 25 pounds. of clay. Children’s ceramics for children age 8-17 will be offered Saturdays from 9:30-11:30 a.m. Sept. 11 through Oct. 16. Also offered for children age 10-17 will be wheel-thrown pottery and handbuilt pottery Saturdays from 9-11 a.m. Cost is $52.50 for ceramics class, and $82.50 for pottery classes. All the above are at Thompson Park Craft Center, 805 Newman Springs Road, Lincroft section of Middletown.

The Park System will also offer a "Theater for Tots" program for children at the Red Hill Activity Center at Tatum Park, Red Hill Road, Middletown. The four-session class will be Saturdays, Sept. 11 through Oct. 2. Times are 9-9:45 a.m. for 4-year-olds, and from 11-11:45 a.m. for 5-6-year-olds. "Broadway Babies" for children age 4-6 allows expression through movement and dance routines to Broadway hits. The four-session class will be Saturdays, Sept. 11 through Oct. 2, from 10-10:45 a.m. for 4-year-olds, and noon-12:45 p.m. for 5-6-year-olds. Fee for each program is $30.
