Thanks go to supporters of PTO’s Dr. Seuss fund-raiser Thanks go to supporters of PTO’s Dr. Seuss fund-raiser Many thanks to all the parents, teachers, and especially the children who helped make this year’s Beers Street School PTO book fair at Barnes & Noble a great success. Piggybacking on the birthday of the beloved Dr. Seuss, so many volunteered their time to come and read the many classic tales of this author, and made their purchases to benefit the school. Special thanks go to the following people: state Assemblyman Samuel D. Thompson (R-13), for taking time out of his busy schedule and reading to the group; Marc Natanagara, Beers Street School principal, who also did a terrific reading of The Lorax in-between budget meetings; Mrs. Colleen Manginelli, a teacher at Sycamore Drive School, who crossed lines and belted out Yertle the Turtle, to everyone’s delight; and Nancy Hagen, community relations manager for the Holmdel Barnes & Noble (and Raritan High School ’75 classmate of mine), whose advice and assistance were invaluable. And my red-and-white hat’s off to all the terrific young readers who came and gave it their all: Carson Smith, Samantha Strickland, Melanie Kerekes, Megan Kerekes, Jennifer Nobel, Allison Serpico, Nicholas Distaso, Brittney Twigg, Steven Harnett, Julie Harnett, Angelica Fontana, Samantha Ferrigno, Morgan Walsh, Colby Walsh, Emily Conti, and Tara McCoy. Finally, thanks to all those parents and friends of Beers Street School who made purchases during this fund-raising drive. Lisa Merizio Smith Beers Street PTO Barnes & Noble chair Hazlet |
