James "Jeffrey" Miller

Mr. Miller, 52, of Matawan died at July 5 at home. Born in Long Branch, he was a lifelong resident of Matawan. He was a police officer with the Freehold Township Police Department for 22 years, retiring in December. He served with the U.S. Army from 1972-75, and National Guard Military Police from 1975-77. He was also a dispatcher for the Matawan Borough Police Department from 1975-82. He coached the St. Joseph’s Recreational Girls Softball League, Keyport, the past 13 years. He was an avid New York Giants and Yankees fan. He was predeceased by an infant son, James Jeffrey Miller Jr. in 1987; and his parents, J. Donald Miller Sr. in 2003, and Ellen James Brian Miller in 1962. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Patricia Bunce Miller; a daughter, Kaitlin Ann Miller at home; his mother; Susanne Donnell Miller of Matawan; a brother, John D. Miller Jr. of Matawan; a sister and brother-in-law, Ellen and Terry Hart of Matawan; a brother-in-law, Raymond Bunce of Old Bridge; and one niece and nephew. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Internment was at Rose Hill Cemetery, Matawan. Arrangements were by Bedle Funeral Home, Matawan. Lynn E. Ryan

Mrs. Ryan, 59, of Hazlet died Aug. 7 at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital, New York City. Born in Staten Island, N.Y., she resided there before moving to Hazlet 28 years ago. Mrs. Ryan was a homemaker and an entrepreneur. She was a member of St. John’s Methodist Church, Hazlet. She was predeceased by her husband, Timothy J. Ryan. She is survived by a son, Timothy F. Ryan of Hazlet; two daughters, Sherel Ryan of Long Island, N.Y., and Nancy Ryan of Hazlet; and a sister, Nancy Master of Hazlet. A funeral service will be held Aug. 11 at 11 a.m. at St. John’s Church. Interment will follow at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet. The Day Funeral Home, Keyport, is in charge of arrangements.

Grace Cairns

Mrs. Cairns, of Hazlet, died June 29 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Hoboken, she resided in Jersey City and Bayonne before moving to the Bayshore area 36 years ago. Mrs. Cairns was a homemaker. She was a retired chief shop steward of the machinists and aerospace workers at Entron Corp., Morganville. She was a communicant of Trinity Episcopal Church, Matawan, and a member of the Keyport Senior Center. She was a volunteer for Deborah Hospital Foundation and a past member of the Jersey City Mayor’s Council. Mrs. Cairns is survived by three daughters, Carol Ann Balbian, Barbara Lynne Cairns-Reynolds and Robin Colleen Kettle; 10 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held at Rosedale Cemetery, Linden.

Nicholas F. Cogliano Jr.

Mr. Cogliano, 43, of Red Bank died Aug. 8 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Red Bank, he resided in Atlantic Highlands and Hazlet before moving to Red Bank 15 years ago. Mr. Cogliano was a production manager at Variety Industries, Freehold, the past 18 years. He was predeceased by his mother, Louise Perno Cogliano, in 1983. He is survived by his father, Nicholas Cogliano Sr. of Palm Coast, Fla.; his wife, Cheryl Butler of Red Bank; two brothers, Carmen Cogliano of Marlboro and Dennis Cogliano of Pine Beach; a son, Steven Reamer; and three nieces. Visitation will be Aug. 11 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the Day Funeral Home, Keyport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered Aug. 12 at 9:30 a.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport.

Leonard Sebold

Mr. Sebold, 83, of Manchester, died July 17 at home. Born in Poland, he was raised in New York City and had lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., for 19 years before moving to Manchester 12 years ago. He was the night manager at Katz’s Delicatessen, New York City, for 15 years, retiring in 1983. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he was a member of Congregation B’nai Israel, Toms River. Surviving are his wife of 30 years, Miriam Sebold; two sons and daughters-in-law, Steve and Sharon Sebold of Aberdeen, and Peter and Barbara Sebold of Upper St. Clair, Pa.; a daughter and son-in-law, Michele and Alan Feder of Manalapan; and four grandchildren. Services were held at Congregation B’nai Israel, followed by interment at B’nai Israel Cemetery, Toms River. Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.

Angelina Nesci Procopio Heck

Mrs. Heck, 90, of Sayreville died Aug. 1 at Raritan Bay Medical Center, Perth Amboy. Born in Girifalco, Italy, she resided in Red Bank before moving to Sayreville 30 years ago. Mrs. Heck was a homemaker. Prior to that, she was a seamstress at Adams Brothers, Red Bank. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, and a member of the Sayreville Senior Citizens Center. She was predeceased by her fist husband, Peter D. Procopio, in 1967. Mrs. Heck is survived by her husband of 33 years, Stephen Heck; two sons and daughters-in-law, Peter P. and Mary Lou Procopio of Middletown, and Stephen M. and Janice Procopio of Parlin; a daughter; Kathryn Brewer of Oceanport; a sister, Lucy Apel of the Belford section of Middletown; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Anthony’s Church, followed by interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. The John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements.

Patrick J. Nee

Mr. Nee, 68, of Aberdeen, died Aug. 3 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., he resided in Queens, N.Y., prior to moving to Aberdeen 38 years ago. He was a vice president at Dreyfus Corporation, retiring in 1984. He served with the U.S. Air Force. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Nee. He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Do­lores; a daughter, Karin Nee of Red Bank; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Christopher and Lisa Nee of Maryland, Brian and Amy Nee of Freehold, Kevin Nee of New York City, and Timothy Nee of Bloomfield; two brothers and one sister-in-law, John and Janice Nee of Lady Lakes, Fla., and the Rev. Jack McSherry, S.J., of New York City; a sister, Joan McSherry of Somerville; and five granddaughters. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Benedic­t’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. Inter­ment was at Holmdel Cemetery. Arrange­ments were by Waitt-Nelms Funeral Home, Morganville.

Mary Ellen Kramer

Mrs. Kramer, 75, of Middletown, died Aug. 5 at Bayshore Health Care Center, Holmdel. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., she resided in New York City, and Franklin Square, N.Y., prior to moving to Middletown 42 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Mon­mouth section of Middletown. She is survived by her husband of 50 yeas, John Kramer; a daughter and son-in-law, Joanne and Robert Evans of Cranbury; three sons, Stephen Kramer and Michael Kramer, both Middle­town, and George Kramer of Eatontown; and three grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was of­fered at St. Mary’s Church. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Mid­dletown.
