There’s something special going on in Hazlet

After having a couple of weeks to reflect on an outstanding football and cheerleading effort, I am compelled to write and recognize the achievements of our kids and the parents of the Hazlet Hawks Pop Warner/H.Y.A.L. [Hazlet Youth Athletic League] programs.

A season that began mid-summer has recently ended with awesome results. Our Pee Wee football team has the distinction of being No. 2 in the nation. Our Junior Pee Wee cheerleading squad is No. 1 in the nation. Congratulations!

The hard work and enthusiasm of the kids and the parents who volunteer countless hours with tremendous passion is not going unnoticed. In fact, it is contagious.

The sports organizations of Hazlet have become an important feeder to our high school programs. The sports program at Raritan High School has never been better. Our coaches and facility are among the best in the state.

It is not a coincidence that Raritan Rockets football, baseball, basketball, wrestling, etc., are all winners. It is the net effect that begins with the parents who get home from work, coach and inspire the young kids to be the best they can and stay interested in playing sports. All of this hard work, fun, inspiration, winning, and sometimes losing, creates a solid foundation for our kids to take with them into their adult lives.

I believe Hazlet’s greatest resources are the people. I am proud of who and what we are. There is something very special going on here. We are very fortunate to live in a community that cares so much.
