Entries now accepted for M’town art shows

  • The Middletown Department of Parks and Recreation is accepting applications for its 48th annual adult art show, with entry deadline March 8. The show will be March 12 from noon to 4 p.m., and March 13 from 1-4 p.m. at Croydon Hall, 900 Leonardville Road, Leonardo section of Middletown.

    It is open to amateur and professional artists age 18 and older. Cost is $20 per “a“ frame or table. Senior citizens may participate in the senior citizen display free of charge. Trophies will be awarded to amateur artists, and professionals may win cash prizes. There will also be a “People’s Choice” and “Best in Show” award. The awards ceremony will be March 13 at 4 p.m.

    The youth art show is open to Middletown children ages 8-17 (or a senior in high school). Art must be ready for hanging and may be dropped off March 8 from 4-8 p.m. at the Croydon Hall gym. Fee is $1 per piece, with a six-piece limit. There is no advance registration, and art will only be accepted March 8. Awards will be presented in each age group in the categories of acrylics/oils; general media (pastels, chalk, charcoal, pencil); sculpture/3-D; water color; photography; and mixed media/collage/computer graphics.
