Obituaries Edward A. Jackson Mr. Jackson, 90, of Sea Bright, died Jan. 14 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was a 30-year resident of Sea Bright. Mr. Jackson was a pressman at the New York Post, New York City, before his retirement, and a member of the Pressmen’s Union for the New York newspapers. He was a member of the Sea Bright Senior Citizens. Mr. Jackson was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Josephine, in 1997; two brothers, John and Thomas Jackson; and two sisters, Agnes Mangan and Mary Esposito. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Bob Morrone of Yardley, Pa.; a brother, William Jackson of El Cajon, Calif.; a sister, Margaret Matura of Sayreville; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Star of the Sea Roman Catholic Church, Long Branch. Entombment was at Woodbridge Memorial Gardens. The John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements.
Robert L. Hyneman III Mr. Hyneman, 68, of Fort Pierce, Fla., died Jan. 14 at Robert Wood Johnson University Medical Center, New Brunswick. Born in Newark, he had lived in Atlantic Highlands and the Port Monmouth section of Middletown for 50 years before moving to Fort Pierce four years ago. Mr. Hyneman was a group supervisor at JCP&L, Freehold, for 30 years, retiring in 1997. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a former communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown, and a member of the Partners in Mercy at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Mr. Hyneman is survived by his wife of 48 years, Barbara Somma Hyneman; six daughters and two sons-in-law, Mary Andrea Courtney of Holmdel, Mary Susan Iorio of the Leonardo section of Middletown, Mary Alice Hyneman of Mount Shasta, Calif., Mary Deidre and John Kelly of Middletown, Mary Barbara Crowell of Atlantic Highlands, and Mary Etta and Anthony Gregory of Middletown; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Kenneth R. and Leaetta Hyneman of Hot Springs Village, Ark., and Bernard and Joyce Chenoweth Hyneman; 14 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated Jan. 19 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Atlantic Highlands, followed by burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. The John F. Robert J. Massicotte Mr. Massicotte, 80, of Red Bank, died Jan. 16 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Newark, he resided in Middletown before moving to Red Bank 10 years ago. Mr. Massicotte was a technician at ITT Bakeries, Old Bridge, retiring 15 years ago. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council No. 2179, Middletown; the Kiwanis Club of Shadow Lake Village, Middletown; and the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, Belford section of Middletown. He was predeceased by his wife, Cecilia Massicotte. Mr. Massicotte is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Barbara and Raymond Scuorzo of the Leonardo section of Middletown, and Toni Gillison of Alabama; and a son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Lynn Massicotte of Middletown. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated Jan. 19 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown, followed by burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Sandra Lee Brown Slonski Mrs. Slonski, 62, of Hazlet, died Jan. 11 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, following a lengthy battle with cancer. Born in Cinnaminson, she resided in Long Branch and Philadelphia before moving to Hazlet 35 years ago. Mrs. Slonski was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Benedict’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. She is survived by her husband, Walter A. Slonski; and a daughter and son, Karen and William Slonski, both at home. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Benedict’s Church, followed by interment at Monmouth Memorial Park, Neptune. The Day Funeral Home, Keyport, was in charge of arrangements.
Alexander C. Twigg Mr. Twigg, 21, of Union Beach, died Jan. 11 at home. Born in Red Bank, he resided in Middletown before moving to Union Beach 10 years ago. Mr. Twigg was an electrician at Pro Ted Electric, Sayreville, the past three months. Prior to that, he was employed at Saturn of Freehold. He is survived by his mother and stepfather, Tammy and Jerry Johnson of Union Beach; his father, Robert Twigg of Union Beach; a daughter, Alexis Twigg of Union Beach; his maternal grandparents, Barbara and William Alexander of Middletown; his paternal grandparents, Constance and Robert Twigg of Middletown; a sister, Brittany Twigg of Hazlet; and his great-grandmother, Dorothy Mullaly. Burial took place at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. The John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements.
Rosemary Ann Velluzzi Mrs. Velluzzi, 69, of Hazlet, died Jan. 11 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Staten Island, N.Y., she resided in Hazlet the past 38 years. Mrs. Velluzzi was the owner and operator of Fran Rose Gift Shop, Hazlet, for 13 years, retiring 16 years ago. She was also a waitress at Attilio’s Restaurant, Lincroft section of Middletown. Mrs. Velluzzi was predeceased by her husband, Frank Velluzzi, in 2004. She is survived by five daughters, Karen Rafter of Keansburg, Theresa Velluzzi of Keyport, Ann Marie Layer of the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen, Laurie Jean Licciardi of Holmdel, and Stacey Ridenour of New York City; a son, Frank J. Velluzzi of Holmdel; her mother, Ann Eannucci of Staten Island; and six grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg, followed by burial at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
Harriet Hoffman Mrs. Hoffman, 80, of East Brunswick, died Dec. 18 at her winter home in Coconut Creek, Fla. She was predeceased by a son, Scott Hoffman, in 1994. Mrs. Hoffman is survived by her husband, Edward Hoffman; two sons, Gary Hoffman of East Brunswick and Marc Hecht of Matawan; two sisters, Doris Kirk and Joyce Payne; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Robert A. Stanton Mr. Stanton, 48, of Point Pleasant Beach, died Jan. 14 at Concord Health Care, Lakewood. Born in Jersey City, he resided in Union Beach before moving to Point Pleasant Beach 26 years ago. Mr. Stanton was a heater and oiler repairman at Howard Eastmon & Sons, Middletown, the past six years. He was predeceased by his mother, Anita R. Stanton, in 1997. Mr. Stanton is survived by his father, George Stanton of Keyport; a daughter, Melissa Stanton of Atlantic Highlands; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Patricia and Daniel Morgan of South Amboy, and Joanne and Brian VanDerhorn of Delhaven; his girlfriend, Norma Geary of Point Pleasant Beach; four nephews; and one niece. The Day Funeral Home, Keyport, was in charge of arrangements. Maryanne Okuszka Penszynski Mrs. Penszynski, 62, of Middletown, died Dec. 31 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided in Middletown the past 37 years. She was a secretary at the Middletown Township Board of Education the past 19 years. She was a communicant of and member of the choir at St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, Middletown. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Charles Penszynski; two daughters and one son-in-law, Sally Morton and Douglas Deritis of Point Pleasant, and Amy Penszynski of Middletown; two sons and daughters-in-law, Charles and Nancy Penszynski Jr., and David and Debra Penszynski, all of Hazlet; a brother and sister-in-law, Joe and Vicki Okuszka of Long Branch; and six grandchildren. Madeline C. Spinelli Mrs. Spinelli, 83, of Hazlet, died Jan. 13 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided in Matawan before moving to Hazlet several years ago. Mrs. Spinelli was a clerk at New York State Insurance Fund, New York City, for 10 years, retiring in 1975. She was a member of the Cheesequake Memorial Post No. 6761 Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, and a past member of the Red Bank Elks No. 233 Auxiliary. Mrs. Spinelli was predeceased by her husband, Attilio, in 2000. She is survived by a son, James Spinelli of Atlanta; a daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Robert Mauro of Hazlet; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and a niece. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Lawrence Harbor, followed by interment at Forest Green Park Cemetery, Marlboro.
