James P. Nemeth

Mr. Nemeth, 85, of Chapin, S.C., died Jan. 8 at home. Born in South Amboy, he relocated to Chapin three years ago. Mr. Nemeth was a brakeman for the Pennsylvania Railroad, South Amboy, where he was employed more than 40 years before retiring. He was a member of the Independence Engine & Hose Company, South Amboy, and the Exempt Firemen’s Association. He was predeceased by his wife, Katherine Kosovich Nemeth, in 1999; a son, Samuel, in 2001; five brothers; and three sisters. Mr. Nemeth is survived by four sons, James. A. Nemeth of South Amboy, Carl J. Nemeth of Sarasota, Fla., Robert P. Nemeth of Parlin, and Kevin A. Nemeth of Aberdeen; a daughter, Renee J. Kotula, with whom he resided; a brother, John Nemeth of New Brunswick; 20 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, followed by interment at Christ Church Cemetery, both South Amboy. The Gundrum Service Home for Funerals, South Amboy, was in charge of arrangements.

Philip L. D’Achille

Mr. D’Achille, 67, of Holmdel, died Dec. 31 following injuries from an accident on Staten Island, N.Y. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided in Boston and Los Angeles prior to moving to Holmdel 15 years ago. He was a retired senior vice president at Prudential Insurance, where he was employed from 1962-98. He served with the U.S. Army Chemical Corps from 1955-58. He was a communicant of St. Catharine’s Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel. His memberships included the American Cancer Society, Catholic Charities, and the board of trustees at Bayshore Health Care Management Corp. He enjoyed golf, gardening, and the New York Yankees. He is survived by his wife, Rosalind; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Carole D’Achille of Kensington, Md.; a daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Robert Rosone of Little Silver; his twin brother, Thomas D’Achille of East Setauket, N.Y.; a brother, Louis D’Achille of Long Beach, N.Y.; two sisters, Emilia Siciliano of Shrewsbury, and Gloria Kunicki of Gloversville, N.Y.; and six grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Catharine’s Church. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Julie Ann DeSacia

Miss DeSacia, 41, of Matawan, died Jan. 16 at home. She was born in Newark. She was a waitress at Middletown Diner. She is survived by her boyfriend, Nick Cetrulo of Matawan; her father, William DeSacia; her mother, Evelyn Pascavage DeSacia; two sisters, Dawn DeSacia of Danbury, Conn., and Audra Murphy of Westfield; a daughter, Brittanie DeMura; and a son, Adam DeSacia. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Earl Goble

Mr. Goble, 69, of Holmdel, died Jan. 16 at Bayshore Health Care, Holmdel. Born in Hope, he reside din Flemington prior to moving to Holmdel. He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Ethel Schaffer Goble. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Thomas Harrison Wright

Mr. Wright, 42, of Matawan, died Jan. 16 at home. Born in Orange, he resided in Wall Township prior to moving to Matawan. He attended the New York State Maritime Academy. He enjoyed tennis and sailing. He is survived by his father, Howard Wright of Brielle; his mother, Helen Harrison Wright of Wall Township; two brothers, Stan Wright of Wall, and Bill Wright of Brielle; one niece; and two nephews. A memorial service will be held at later time. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Mary Ellen Ferrone

Mrs. Ferrone, 72, of the New Monmouth section of Middletown, died Jan. 18 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in the Bronx, N.Y., she resided in New Monmouth for more than 40 years. She was executive assistant to the vice president at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown, for more than 15 years. She was a communicant of, and member of the Adoration Society and Altar Rosary Society at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. She was predeceased by a sister, Anna Friel. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Lawrence Paul Ferrone; a son, Lawrence John Ferrone of Oswego, Ill.; a daughter and son-in-law, Catherine Ann and Peter Buontempo of Westfield; a brother, Bernard Friel of Hazlet; four sisters, Jean Giacalone of the Bronx, N.Y.; Catherine Hergenrother of Queens, N.Y.; Agnes Engl of Roanoke, Va.; and Patricia Henningsen of Red Bank; and two grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Mary’s Church. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.

Margaret Manzione

Mrs. Manzione, 68, of Middletown, died Jan. 17 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided there prior to moving to Middletown 28 years ago. She was a legal secretary for several years, retiring in 1997. She is survived by her husband, John Manzione; a son, James Manzione; a daughter, Patricia Boisselle; two sisters, Ann Marie Hamdi and Catherine Crowley; a brother, John Cullum; and three grandchildren. Margaret Semulka Robinson

Mrs. Robinson, 78, of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, died Jan. 18 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Scranton, Pa., she resided in Jersey City prior to moving to Port Monmouth 15 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband of 53 years, Thomas Robinson in 1979. She is survived by four daughters, Nancy Motichka of Middletown, Janet Martin of Forked River, Darlene Robinson of Dingmans Ferry, Pa., and Linda Robinson of Highlands; two sons, Michael Robinson of Portland, Pa., and Thomas Robinson of North Bergen; a sister ,Helen Cantor of Burbank, Calif.; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, North Middletown. Burial was at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City. Arrangements were by John F. Matthew J. Finnerty

Mr. Finnerty, 84, of Middletown, died Jan. 17 at Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Holmdel. Born in Hoboken, he resided in Middletown Township the past 32 years. He was a detective sergeant for the city of Hoboken Police Department for 30 years, retiring in 1974. He was also a bartender at the Lobsterman Restaurant, Leonardo section of Middletown, for more than 20 years. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179, Port Monmouth section of Middletown, and Life Member of the PBA Local No. 4, Hoboken. He enjoyed hunting. He was predeceased by his wife of 52 years, Helen Grube Finnerty in 1998. He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Matthew and Sharon Finnerty of Middletown, and James Finnerty of Holmdel; a brother, Francis Finnerty of Middletown; a sister, Eileen Pilgrim of Middletown; and three grandchildren. Kathleen Cuozze Herman

Mrs. Herman, 80, of Holmdel, died Jan. 19 at Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Holmdel. Born in Jersey City, she resided in Keyport prior to moving to Holmdel. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Golden Age Group at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. She is survived by two sons, Eugene Herman, and Kenneth Herman; a daughter, Diane Herman; and her dear friend, Lois Hewitt of Keyport. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport, followed by burial at the church cemetery. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Winslow B. “Bud” Hagman Sr.

Mr. Hagman, 79, of Keyport, died Jan. 17 at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital, New Brunswick. Born in Chartley, Mass., he resided in various Monmouth County towns prior to moving to Keyport 40 years ago. He was a machinist at Alloy-Fab, South Plainfield. He served with the U.S. Navy as a Seaman 1st Class during World War II. He was a member of the Cliffwood Beach First Aid Squad, and the Keyport Seniors. He was predeceased by two grandsons, Ronald Cusumano in 2004, and Keith Tormay in 2001. He is survived by his wife, Judith Lautieri Hagman of Keyport; six sons, Peter Hagman of Riverside, Calif.; Bradley Hagman of Orlando, Fla.; Richard Hagman of Upper Blackeddy Pa.; Wayne Hagman of Marlboro; Winslow B. “Bud” Hagman Jr. of Union Beach; and Joseph Hagman of Keansburg; five daughters, Judith Cusumano of Hopelawn, Doreen Tormay of Aberdeen, Ginlia Morris of Keyport, Cheryl Hagman of Charleston, W. Va.., and Rhea Savage of Marlboro; a sister, Connie Pinnigan of Plymouth, Mass.; a brother, William Hagman of Kingston, Mass.; 17 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
