Obituaries Randolph J. Bolin Mr. Bolin, 56, of Orlando, Fla., died Feb. 26 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Red Bank, he resided in Middletown prior to moving to Orlando seven years ago. He was a bus driver at Mears Bus Company, Orlando, the past seven years. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a lifelong member of Middletown Township First Aid and Rescue Squad. He was predeceased by his mother, Julia Maloney Bolin. He is survived by his wife, Monica Perry Bolin of Orlando; his father, Charles Bolin of Middletown; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Chuck and Adrianne Bolin of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, John and Lisa Bolin of Hazlet, and Larry and Peggy Bolin of Port Monmouth; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Ann and Dominick Donatelli, Julie and Bill Fehlhaber, Chrys and Jeff Cady, and Mary Pat Bolin, all of Middletown; his mother-in-law, Rita Perry of Florida; two brothers-in-law; a sister-in-law; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be March 2 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral gathering will be March 3 at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by a funeral liturgy at 10:30 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. Giovanni John C. Cantalupo Mr. Cantalupo, 82, of Middletown, died Feb. 26 at Deborah Heart & Lung Center, Browns Mills. Born in Newark, he resided in North Ridge, Calif., prior to moving to Middletown 25 years ago. He was a restaurateur and owner of The Pavilion Restaurant, Keansburg, for 30 years. He served as a paratrooper with the U.S. Army during World War II. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Kelly Burke Cantalupo; three daughters, Christy Gigliobianco and Ellen Marie Cantalupo, both Middletown, and Michelle Cantalupo of Old Bridge; three sons, Giovanni Cantalupo Jr. and Timothy Cantalupo, both of Middletown, and Butch Cantalupo of California; a brother, Tony Grand Cantalupo of Chatsworth, Calif.; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be March 2 at 10 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Richard J. Donato Mr. Donato, 60, of Manahawkin, died Feb. 15 at Southern Ocean County Hospital, Manahawkin. Born in Jersey City, he resided in Middletown Township for 21 years, prior to moving to Manahawkin one month ago. He was the owner and operator of RJ’s Ice Cream, Belford section of Middletown, for 20 years. He was a communicant of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Atlantic Highlands. He was predeceased by his father, William Donato. He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Mary Ann Naival Donato; a son, R.J. Donato of Highlands; his mother, Felicia Iavarone of Florida; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Eva Alge of Wyckoff, and Janet Ann and Dennis Sullivan of the Lincroft section of Middletown; and several nieces and nephews. Michael “Mike” R. Spereda Mr. Spereda, 92, of Keyport, died Feb. 25 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in the New Monmouth section of Middletown, he was a lifelong resident of Keyport. He was a retired custodian at Monmouth County Courthouse, Freehold. He served with the U.S. Army during the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. He was predeceased by two sisters, Mary Schutsky and Anna Jensen; and his brother, Peter Spereda. HE is survived by a nephew, Henry Schutsky; two nieces, Dorothy Schutsky and Patricia Schutsky; and several great-nieces and great-nephews, and great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Francis “Frank” Durnien Mr. Durnien, 82, of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, died Feb. 15 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Coat Bridge, Scotland, he relocated to the United States in 1952, and resided in Keansburg prior to moving to Port Monmouth one year ago. He was a doorman at Baltusrol Golf Club, Springfield, for 47 years, retiring in 1998. He was a communicant of St. Ann’s Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. He was a member of the South Orange Elks Lodge No. 1154, and St. Ann’s Senior Citizens. He was predeceased by five brothers, two sisters and two nephews. He is survived by his wife, Irene Knoble Durnien; two sons, John F. Durnien of St. Louis, Mo., and Francis L. Durnien of Toms River; a daughter, Catherine Durnien of Lee, Mass.; a sister, Ella Beirns of England; and five grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was offered at St. Ann’s Church. Patrick O’Connor Mr. O’Connor, 87, of Addison, Vt., and formerly Keyport, died Feb. 16 at home. Born in Limerick, Ireland, he resided in the United States for more than 48 years. He was a retired employee of Sears & Roebuck, Middletown, where he was employed 18 years. Prior to that, he was employed at McDonough’s Factory, Hoboken, and the coal mines in England prior to moving to the United States. He was predeceased by his first wife, Elizabeth Cahill O’Connor in 1961; his second wife, Helen Darby O’Connor in 1998; a son, James O’Connor in 1996; and a stepson, Drew Darby in 1982. He is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Annie Nancy O’Connor Craig and her husband Keith of Addison, Vt., and Mary Ellen Briody of Lakewood; four sons and two daughters-in-law, John J. O’Connor of Little Silver, Patrick A. O’Connor of Ocean, Con and Sue O’Connor of the Leonardo section of Middletown, and Chris and Diane O’Connor of Hazlet; three stepdaughters, Carol Dender and her husband Bob of New Jersey, Claudia Darby of Kentucky, and Cathy Darby of Florida; a stepson, Steven Darby of Florida; and several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews. Doris J. Forman Mrs. Forman, 79, of Neptune City, died Feb. 17 in Oldsmar, Fla. Born in Marlboro, she had lived there for more than 60 years before moving to Neptune City five years ago. She was a child-care provider for more than 20 years and a member of the Old Brick Reformed Church in Marlboro. Mrs. Forman was predeceased by her husband, Frank Forman, in 1996 and a brother, Willard Emmons. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Frank Jr. and Diane Forman of Neptune City; two daughters and a son-in-law, Donna Emery of Howell, and Gail and Andre Thomas of Hazlet; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Louise Emmons of Marlboro; seven grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter. Frank J. Slovenz Sr. Mr. Slovenz, 94, of Tamarac, Fla., and New Jersey, died Feb. 20 at his Tamarac home. He was born in New York City. He owned and operated Dixie Lee Bakery, Keansburg, from 1933-2001. He is a member of the Moose Lodge, Elks and Veterans of Foreign Wars, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Middletown Elks, Belford section of Middletown. He was predeceased by his first wife, Mary Oravec Slovenz; his second wife, Kathryn Brannigan Slovenz; two sons, Richard Slovenz in 2000, and Frank J. Slovenz Jr. in 2001; two brothers, Joseph Slovenz and Steve Slovenz; and his sister, Marion Velcamp. He is survived by a son, Robert Slovenz of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; two daughters, Diane O’Neill of Holmdel, and Karen Miracola of Fort Myers, Fla.; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. Jane Harney Donovan Mrs. Donovan of Shadow Lake Village, Middletown, died Feb. 14. She was born in Jersey City. She was an assistant manager at NJ Bell in its officer in Jersey City, Shrewsbury, Keyport and Freehold, retiring in 1985. She was a parishioner at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Her memberships included the Telephone Company Pioneers, Shadow Lake Village Auxiliary. She was predeceased by an infant son, Robert; her husband, Robert; and a brother, Staff Sgt. Cornelius F. Harney, U.S.M.C., a sister, Barbara Norton; and a brother-in-law, Thomas Goedert.
