Jaclynn Heefner, Middletown, recently received a bachelor of science degree summa cum laude in special education of the developmentally handicapped at the spring commencement exercises at The College of New Jersey, Ewing, where she was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester. A 2001 graduate of Middletown High School North, she is the daughter of Joan and Jeff Onori.

Aberdeen resident April Norbut recently received a bachelor of science degree in nursing at the spring commencement ceremonies at William Paterson University, Wayne, where she was also named to the dean’s list for the spring semester. She is the daughter of Mary and Donald Norbut.

Chad Arthur Valanzola, Matawan, recently received a master’s of science degree in management at the spring commencement exercises at Thomas Edison State College, Trenton. A graduate of Matawan Regional High School, Aberdeen, he is the son of June V. Migliore of Matawan, and Richard Valanzola of Point Pleasant.

The Charles E. Gregory School of Nursing of Raritan Bay Medical Center, Old Bridge, announced the following local students who received diplomas at the spring commencement exercises:

Michele LaPilusa Archer, of Aberdeen;

Debrah Wamba, of the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen; and

Jeremy Jane Manibo, Laura Seifring Quackenbush and Catherine Rebecca Skidmore, all of Matawan.

Rider University, Lawrenceville, announced the following local students who received degrees at the spring commencement ceremonies:

Debby Lau, of Matawan, a bachelor of arts degree in fine arts;

Lauren Michelle Cardew, of North Middletown, a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education and fine arts;

Joelle Patricia Marcelli, of Middletown, a bachelor of arts degree in communication;

Rachel A. Gaynor, of the Belford section of Middletown, a master’s of art degree in education administration;

Jennifer A. Smith, of Belford, a bachelor of science in business administration degree in accounting; and

Holmdel residents Laura Michelle Carcich, a bachelor of arts degree in journalism;

Tiffany Joy Stevenson, a bachelor of arts degree in American studies; and

Anita Tekchandani, a bachelor of arts degree in psychology.

Middletown resident Michael Conte recently received a $1,000 Leaders and Achievers grant from The Comcast Foundation for outstanding commitment to community service. A 2005 graduate of Mater Dei High School, New Monmouth section of Middletown, Conte will attend St. Joseph’s University, Philadelphia. He is the son of Grace Conte.

Four teams from Holmdel High School recently placed in the top 10 of the New Jersey Science League. Ranking first place in Chemistry I was the team of Charles Lei, Stephanie Sher, Allen Liu, Ann Ouyang and Allen Lin.

Ranking fourth in Biology II was the team of Ellen Hsu, Julius Li, Jonathan Ohm, Jason Yang, Karen Sun and Diana Chien. The team of David Pfeffer, Kersing Huang, Jay Lin and Anupriya Singhal took fifth in Physics II. Ranking ninth in Chemistry II was the team of Adrienne Yip, Nicole Licato, Brendan Jones, Eugene Wu and Michelle Lu.

Daniel Alexander Lepore, Middletown, recently received a bachelor of science degree magna cum laude in economics at the spring commencement exercises at The College of New Jersey, Ewing, where he also graduated with second honors in economics. Named the dean’s list all four years, he was a member of Beta Gamma Sigma International Business Honor Society, Omicron Delta Epsilon International Economic National Honor Society, and Golden Key Honor Society of Academic Excellence. A graduate of Middletown High School South, he is the son of Gina and Rocco Lepore.

James Nausedas Jr., Hazlet, recently received a bachelor of arts degree in journalism magna cum laude at the spring commencement exercises at The College of New Jersey. A 2001 graduate of Raritan High School, Hazlet, he was named to the dean’s list during college for all four years.

Terrence K. Darnell, Keyport, and Madeline Bennett, Aberdeen, both recently received Senior Achievement Awards from Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown. The awards were given to 11 Brookdale students in recognition of overall outstanding achievement, outstanding academic achievement, and academic achievement.

Darnell received an Outstanding Academic Achievement Award for attaining a GPA between 3.5-3.99. He received an associate’s of science degree in social science/criminal justice, was named to the dean’s list, and invited to join the honor society. He has been a full-time student while attending to the needs of his two children. He anticipates attending Rutgers University, New Brunswick, or John Jay College of Criminal Justice.

Bennett received an Academic Achievement Award for attaining a GPA between 3.2-3.4. She received an associate’s of arts degree in education, and plans to continue her education. Her volunteer work includes assisting the Girl Scouts, public schools and thrift stores, and teaching Sunday school.

Scott Dellosso of Hazlet was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at the University of Delaware, Newark. He is an elementary education major and a member of Alpha Phi Omega. A graduate of Raritan High School, Hazlet, he is the son of Debbie and Greg Dellosso.

Stacey Molski of Middletown has been named to the dean’s list for the spring semester at Fairfield (Conn.) University, where she is majoring in liberal arts. A graduate of Middletown High School South, she is the daughter of Anita and Raymond Molski.

Wilkes University, Wilkes-Barre, Pa., named the following local students to the dean’s list for the spring semester:

Andrea Kacprowicz of Holmdel; and

John Untisz of Middletown.

Rider University, Lawrenceville, named the following local students to the dean’s list for the spring semester:

Kerri Silva of the Belford section of Middletown, a sophomore;

John Smith of Aberdeen, a sophomore;

Cathleen Ziegler of the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen, a senior;

Stacey Guzman of Matawan, a junior; and

Debby Lau of Matawan, a senior.

The University of Scranton (Pa.) named the following local students to the dean’s list for the spring semester:

Julianne C. Burok of Matawan, a sophomore majoring in elementary education;

Joanna Cardaccio of Hazlet, a senior psychology major;

Jacqueline Carrigg of Middletown, a senior majoring in secondary education/mathematics;

Rachel M. Chibnik of Middletown, a sophomore majoring in secondary education-English;

Kathleen E. Malloy of Middletown, a junior nursing major;

Janine Martin of the Lincroft section of Middletown, a junior majoring in counseling and human services;

Michelle C. McColgan of the New Monmouth section of Middletown, a junior majoring in elementary education; and

Vincent Solomeno of Hazlet, a sophomore political science major.

Jessica Crotty of the Leonardo section of Middletown was recently awarded a scholarship to attend Rutgers University, New Brunswick. The scholarships were given to 12 members of the Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honor Society at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown. The scholarships honor high-achieving New Jersey community college transfer students who are members of PTK.

Travis P. Roberts, Hazlet, recently received a $2,000 Buck Smith Memorial Scholarship from the Buck Smith Memorial Foundation. The scholarships are given annually to two high school seniors who will continue their education at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown. Awards are based on academic excellence and civic involvement.

Alexis M. Turro, Lincroft section of Middletown, was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester with a 4.0 grade point average at Loyola College, Baltimore. The daughter of Jeanne and Richard Turro, she was also recently inducted into Lambda Pi Eta National Communication Association honor society.

Christy Woodward of Middletown was named to the dean’s list for the spring semester, and her second consecutive semester, at Gettysburg (Pa.) College, where she is a freshman. A graduate of Middletown High School South, she is the daughter of Bonnie and John Woodward.

The College of Arts and Sciences at Syracuse (N.Y.) University named the following local students to the dean’s list for the spring semester:

Linda Ober of Matawan, a senior majoring in Spanish and magazine journalism; and

Diana Meyler of Middletown, a junior psychology major.

Mishka Marilia Arnaldi, Matawan, received a bachelor of science degree in foods and nutrition at the spring commencement exercises at Radford (Va.) University.

Richard J. Gunderud, Hazlet, received a bachelor of science degree in accounting at the spring commencement exercises at Kean University, Union. A graduate of Raritan High School, Hazlet, he is the son of Carol and Richard Gunderud.

Lauren M. Hoffman, Hazlet, has graduated cum laude from The College of New Jersey, Ewing, where she was also named to the dean’s list for the spring semester.
