StreetHeart, based in central New Jersey, is holding auditions for a female voice to sing with a working, all-female, doo wop a cappella group. Lead and harmony background experience is a must. Details: Vicki, (732) 780-2734.

The Strand Theater Ensemble will hold auditions for its fall production of “The Sound of Music,” Aug. 15-16 at 7 p.m. at the Strand Theater, 400 Clifton Ave., Lakewood, with callbacks Aug. 17. Needed are six children and 25 adults. All roles are open except Capt. von Trapp. Those auditioning should come prepared to sing 16 bars of a show tune (no tapes or CDs) and be ready to dance. Spotlight Players will hold auditions for the family musical “The Adventures of Tom Sawyer” at 7 p.m. Aug. 17 and Aug. 22, and at 3 p.m. Aug. 21. Auditions will be held at the First Presbyterian Church of Matawan, Route 34 and Franklin Street. Several roles are available for adults and teens ages 12-16. Additional casting will take place for older teens and children, ages 8 and up. Those auditioning should bring sheet music; an accompanist will be provided. Over the Rainbow Productions will hold auditions for its October production of the musical “Company,” Aug. 20 at 2 p.m. Those auditioning must bring 16 bars of a song. Details: Debby, (732) 888-0339.

Stars in the Park will hold auditions for “They’re Playing Our Song,” Aug. 22 at 7 p.m. at Mercer County Community College, 1200 Old Trenton Road, West Windsor. Callbacks will be held Aug. 23 at 7 p.m. Those auditioning must be 21 or older and should prepare a vocal selection from “They’re Playing Our Song”; an accompanist will be provided. Readings will be given from the script. A résumé and photo are requested. All roles are open, and all actors must be able to move well on stage and sing. Fright Fest auditions will be held at Six Flags Great Adventure, Route 537, Jackson, at the end of August for a host of ghoulish characters to transform the theme park into a scream park in October. Monmouth Conservatory of Music Youth and Children’s Chorus is accepting new members, ages 9-17, for a year of choral training and performance, with no singing experience required. Placement auditions for the new chorus members will be held Aug. 30, 31, Sept. 12 and 14. The chorus holds weekly rehearsals in Red Bank on Mondays or Wednesdays, and schedules at least three performances during the school year.
