Obituaries Rosemarie F. Kret Mrs. Kret, 60, of Holmdel, died Aug. 7 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Jackson Heights, N.Y., she resided there prior to moving to Holmdel 33 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, Middletown. She was predeceased by a sister, Irene Fernandez. She is survived by her husband of 40 years, William Sonny Kret; four sons and daughters-in-law, William and Tara Kret, and Andrew and Teresa Kret, all of Middletown, Matthew and Shelly Kret of Hazlet, and Michael and Daria Kret of Bethlehem, Pa.; two sisters, Emily Russell of Flushing, N.Y., and Kay Russell of Seaford, N.Y.; a brother, Jim Murphy of Winter Park, Fla.; and eight grandchildren. A funeral liturgy will be Aug. 10 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Catherine’s Church. Entombment will be at Holmdel Mausoleum. Arrangements are by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
Dorothy M. Mullaly Mrs. Mullaly, 80, of the River Plaza section of Middletown, died July 28 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in New York City, she resided in the Middletown 55 years. She was a waitress at Bahrs Landing, Highlands, for 20 years, retiring in 1975. She was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Donald Mullaly in 1992. She is survived by three daughters, Barbara Thacke of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, and Connie Twigg and Donna Mullaly, both of Middletown; a sister, Rita Tepper of Burgaw, N.C.; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, Middletown. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
Andrew Nicora Mr. Nicora, 89, of Holmdel, died July 27 at his son’s home in Matawan. Born in Matawan, he resided in Aberdeen, and Sunrise, Fla., prior to moving to Holmdel. He was a farmer at Nicora’s Farms, as well as a truck driver at Herman Trucking, Old Bridge, formerly Van Brunt Trucking, Matawan, retiring in 1977. He was a member of Teamsters Local No. 701. He was predeceased by his wife, Louise P. Nicora; and a brother, John Nicora. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James and Lois Nicora of Matawan; a daughter and son-in-law, Rosemarie Perkins and Joseph Barbieri of Coconut Creek, Fla.; a brother, Louis Nicora of Aberdeen; eight grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Entombment was at St. Joseph’s Mausoleum, Keyport. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport. Regina Owdziej Mrs. Owdziej, 80, of Marlboro, died Aug. 4 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided in Manalapan prior to moving to Sunrise Assisted Living, Marlboro, two years ago. She was a retired employee of Metropolitan Life Insurance, New York City, where she was employed several years. She was a communicant of St. Gabriel’s Roman Catholic Church, Marlboro. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony in 1992. She is survived by a daughter, Victoria Wallace of Marlboro; a son, Michael Owdziej of Staten Island, N.Y.; two sisters, Agnes Cegla of the Lincroft section of Middletown, and Julia Kiszke of Middletown; five grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Gabriel’s Church, followed by entombment at St. Gabriel’s Mausoleum, Marlboro. Arrangements were by Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan. Diane F. Downes Mrs. Downes, 53, of Keansburg, died July 29 at home following a battle with cancer. Born in Long Branch, she resided in Middletown prior to moving to Keansburg in 1970. She was the manager at the office of Dr. Marc Cooper, Middletown, the past 11 years. She was a member of Gethsemane Lutheran Church, Keyport. She enjoyed time with her family. She was predeceased by her father, Charles L. Simpson; and a sister, Bernadette Simpson. She is survived by her husband of 11 years, Robert Downes; her mother, Audrey A. Simpson of Middletown; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Robin Downes of Mystic Island, Bernadette and Kevin Dreyer of Middletown, Bronawyn and James O’Leary of the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen, and Bethany Hagan of Hazlet; a son, Christopher Downes of Pennsylvania; and 10 grandchildren. A funeral service was held at Gethsemane Lutheran Church. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
Helen H. Park Mrs. Park, 83, of the Leonardo section of Middletown, died July 29 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Kearny, she resided in West Paterson prior to moving to Leonardo 30 years ago. She was a seamstress at Great Eastern Mills, West Paterson, for 17 years, retiring in 1975. She was predeceased by two brothers, John and Robert; three sisters, Edith, Gladys and Frances; and a son-in-law, Donald Walker. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, John H. Park; two daughters and one son-in-law, Kathy Walker of Cedar Grove, and Ginny and Leigh Hallberg of Little Falls; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rick and Janet Park of Barnegat, and Jack and Nancy Park of Atlantic Highlands; a sister-in-law, Betty Park of Toms River; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Burial was at Bay View Cemetery, Leonardo. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Ethel Feinberg Minkin Mrs. Minkin, 81, of East Brunswick, died Aug. 2 at Rose Mountain Care Center, New Brunswick. Born in New York City, she had resided in Baltimore and West Virginia before moving to East Brunswick 47 years ago. Mrs. Minkin was a job counselor at the New Jersey Department of Labor for approximately 20 years, retiring in 1987. She was also a substitute teacher for the East and South Brunswick school systems. She was a member of Hadassah and was president of the Baltimore branch for several terms. She was a former chairwoman of the Citizens Committee for Better Schools, East Brunswick, and director for several years of the East Brunswick Township Education Committee. Mrs. Minkin is survived by her husband, Morris B. Minkin; two daughters, Dr. Mary Jane Minkin of Guilford, Conn., and Randy Rubinstein of Hazlet; and five grandchildren. A funeral service took place at Frostwood Memorial Park Mausoleum, East Brunswick. Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, New Brunswick, was in charge of arrangements.
Kenneth T. Liegel Mr. Liegel, 48, of the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen, died Aug. 2 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Union, he resided in Cliffwood Beach most of his life. Mr. Liegel was a real estate agent at ERA Jersey Homes, Matawan. He was a member of the Aberdeen Township Zoning Board and the Water Advisory Board. He also was a member of the Monmouth County Republican Club. Mr. Liegel was predeceased by his parents, Rose Juliano Liegel, in 2005, and Frank Liegel Sr., in 1988; and a brother, Harry “Buster” Liegel, in 1984. He is survived by his fiancée, Linda Mazzeo of Parlin; his children, Patricia, RoseMarie and Antoinette Liegel, of Cliffwood Beach; a brother, Frank “Sonny” Liegel Jr. of Cliffwood Beach; a sister, Patricia Liegel of Keyport; two stepchildren, Joseph Troiano of Hazlet and Michelle Manresa of Beachwood; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Lawrence Roman Catholic Church, Laurence Harbor, followed by interment at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet. The Day Funeral Home, Keyport, was in charge of arrangements. Eugene E. Barrett Mr. Barrett, 95, of Keyport, died Aug. 4 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Woonsocket, R.I., he resided there prior to moving to Keyport in 1919. He was a retired tool and die maker at Motion Systems Corp., Eatontown. He was a member of the Holy Name Society at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. He enjoyed time with his family. He was predeceased by a son, Eugene W. Barrett in 1999; two sisters, Helen Vena and Grace Ryan; and a brother, Francis Barrett. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Genevieve Poling Barrett of Keyport; two sons, James Barrett of Venice, Fla., and William Barrett of San Jose, Calif.; five daughters, Judith Wolf of Rumson, Susan Grzyb of Little Egg Harbor, Carol Riley of Florence, Genevieve Bagnell of the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, and Marian Barrett at home; a sister, Katherine Britten of Largo, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Entombment was at St. Joseph’s Mausoleum. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
