William T. Reddy

Mr. Reddy, 85, of Middletown, died Sept. 17 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided there prior to moving to Middletown in 2004. He was a retired employee of the New York Coffee, Sugar & Cocoa Exchange, New York City; as well as a machinist and shipfitter on the Battleship USS North Carolina, and the Queen Mary. He was a member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, and was a 3rd Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Brooklyn. He was an avid baseball fan and Brooklyn Dodger buff. He was predeceased by a son, William R. Reddy; and a brother-in-law, Gerard White. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Lillian Gillen Reddy; a daughter and son-in-law, George and Deborah and George Attarian; two sons and daughters-in-law, Stephen and Jacqueline Reddy, and Michael and Karen Reddy; a daughter-in-law, Mary Ellen Reddy; a sister-in-law, Theresa White; 10 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Sept. 21 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Burial will follow at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements are by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Fatima Y. Rosko

Mrs. Rosko, 60, of Neptune, died Sept. 16 at Neptune Rehabilitation center. Born in Somalia, Africa, she relocated to the United States in 1970, and resided in the West Keansburg section of Hazlet and Keyport prior to moving to Neptune. She was a stay-at-home mother. She enjoyed bingo. She was predeceased by her husband, George Rosko in 1974; and a daughter, Facia Rosko in 2000. She is survived by two daughters, Zulekha Rosko of Neptune and Ubah Close of Union Beach; two stepchildren; and five grandchildren. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Robert A. Trombetta

Mr. Trombetta, 34, of Old Bridge, died Sept. 14 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Staten Island, N.Y., he was a lifelong resident of Old Bridge. He was employed at North Eastern Lumber, Clarksburg, the past two yeas. Prior to that, he was employed at Blackstone Lumber, South Brunswick, for eight years. He is survived by his parents, Richard and Dorothy Van Name Trombetta of Old Bridge; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Nancy and Walter Seber of Aberdeen; Susan Devine of Laurel, Md.; Kathy and Leo Ocampo of Easton, Pa.; and Amy Trombetta of Old Bridge; and several nieces and nephews. Interment was at Holmdel Cemetery. Arrangements were by Michael Hegarty Funeral Home, Old Bridge. Genevieve Dowdell Courter

Mrs. Courter, 90, of Hazlet, died Sept. 18 at home. Born in Cranford, she resided in Newark before moving to Hazlet 41 years ago. Before her retirement, Mrs. Courter was a sales clerk at Sears, Newark and Middletown, where she was employed for 20 years. She was predeceased by her husband, Giles H. Courter; and a grandson, Giles Courter Jr. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Peter Bacus of Howell, and Fernanda and Theodoros Plagianakos of Hazlet; a son and daughter-in-law, Giles H. and Susan Courter of Wantaugh, N.Y.; five grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Visitation will be held Sept. 21 from 6-9 p.m. at the Day Funeral Home, Keyport. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Sept. 22 at 10:45 a.m. at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach, followed by interment at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown.

Walter M. Barrett

Mr. Barrett, 84, of Allentown, died Sept. 9 at Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center, Hamilton. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided in the Bronx, N.Y.; Hazlet; Tafton, Pa.; and Middletown; prior to moving to Allentown 1 1/2 years ago. He was a maintenance worker at St. Leo The Great Roman Catholic Church, Lincroft section of Middletown, retiring in 1987. He was also a retired employee of Phelps Dodge, Brunswick, and a bus driver for the City of New York. He served with the U.S. Army as a messenger for Gen. George Patton during World War II. He was a communicant of St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, Middletown, Queen of Peace Roman Catholic Church, Hawley, Pa., and St. Leo’s, Lincroft. He was predeceased by his wife, Doris M. Wilton Barrett in 2004; a son-in-law, Donald DuBrosky; and a brother-in-law, Harry Wilton. He is survived by two daughters and one son-in-law, Bonnie and Richard Brown of Hawley, Pa., and Jeanne Barrett-DuBrosky of Allentown; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Walter Barrett of Nashville, and Richard and Susan Barrett of Allendale; 10 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Catherine’s Church. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.

Patrick J. McCarthy Sr.

Mr. McCarthy, of Middletown, died Sept. 15 at home. Born in Newark, he was a lifelong resident of Keansburg and North Middletown. He was a mechanics foreman at the New Jersey Department of Transportation, Woodbridge, for 40 years, retiring in 1990. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict, attaining the rank of Corporal. He was a member of Communication Workers of America Local No. 1032. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Rosalie Kupka McCarthy; a daughter and son-in-law, RoseMary and Patrick Kelly of Avon, Mass.; and a son, Patrick McCarthy Jr. of North Middletown. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.

Richard “Rich” Alan Desch

Mr. Desch, 46, of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, died Sept. 9 following a battle with a brain tumor. He was born in Red Bank. He was a merchandising specialist at Schwans Consumer Brands, Minn. Prior to that, he was employed at K.J.. Pezrow Company, Fairfield, and area Foodtown and A&P supermarkets. He was a communicant of St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, East Keansburg. He was predeceased by his father, Charles A. Desch. He is survived by his wife of 22 years, Diane Iorio Desch; two sons, Steven James and Michael Anthony, both at home; his mother, Eleanor Desch of Highlands; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Charles and Chris Desch of Egg Harbor Township, and John and Dari Desch of Long Branch; tow sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda and Michael Dunphy of Point Pleasant, and Nancy and Dick Declerk of Neptune; a brother-in-law, Daniel Iorio of Middletown; a mother-in-law, Gloria Iorio of Port Monmouth; one nephew; and two nieces. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Catherine’s. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Vito Ferrante

Mr. Ferrante, 92, of Middletown, died Sept. 16 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He resided in Staten Island, N.Y., prior to moving to Middletown 15 years ago. He was a retired truck driver at Turocamo Construction, Brooklyn, N.Y., where he was employed 25 years. He served as a medic with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179, Port Monmouth section of Middletown. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, May; a son, Robert; and two sisters, Jenny De Vito and Rosette Vitulli. He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, William and Pat Ferrante of Middletown, and Rocco and Jeanne Ferrante of Staten Island, N.Y.; two brothers, Rocco Ferrante of Queens, N.Y., and Pasquale Ferrante of New Jersey; and three grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Interment was at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown.
