Kenneth Paul Nolan

Mr. Nolan, 43, of the West Keansburg section of Hazlet, died Sept. 24 following a plane crash in Millstone. Born in Red Bank, he resided in the Leonardo section of Middletown, prior to moving to West Keansburg a few years ago. He was a 25-year member of the Iron Workers Union Local No. 580, New York City. He was a communicant of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Atlantic Highlands. He was a member of the Sea Cadets, Earle Naval Base, Colts Neck, where he attained Cadet of the Year, and Petty Officer of the Year. He also belonged to the U.S. Ultra Light Association. He was predeceased by his father, Richard P. Nolan in 1999. He is survived by his mother, Marjorie Nolan of Matawan; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard and Stephanie Nolan of Middletown; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Robin and Henry DeWindt of Hazlet, and Ellen Nolan of Tinton Falls; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. A funeral service will be Sept. 28 at 9:15 a.m. at John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. A funeral liturgy will follow at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Church. Mary Mendolia Barbato

Mrs. Barbato, 82, of Old Bridge Village, died Sept. 19 at Bayshore Health Care, Holmdel. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided in Queens, N.Y., before moving to Cheesequake Village 1 1/2 years ago. Before her retirement, Mrs. Barbato was a bookkeeper at Atlantic Gum, Brooklyn. She was a communicant of St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church, Matawan, and a past communicant of Our Lady of Hope Roman Catholic Church, Queens. She was a member of Our Lady of Hope Seniors and 5 Towns Seniors, Queens. She is survived by her husband, John Barbato of Old Bridge; a son and daughter-in-law, John and Rosemary Barbato Sr. of Aberdeen; a brother, Nicholas Mendolia of Keyport; and three grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Clement’s Church, followed by interment at St. John’s Cemetery, Queens. Arrangements were by the Day Funeral Home, Keyport. Memorial donations may be made to the American Stroke Association, 2550 Route 1, North Brunswick 08902-4301.

Stanley John Pruchnik

Mr. Pruchnik, 93, of Freehold, died Sept. 20 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Windber, Pa., he had resided in Ocala, Fla., before moving to Freehold in 2001. He was a coal miner in Windber and also worked for Bakelite Corp. in Piscataway for several years. With his brother Charlie, Mr. Pruchnik owned and operated the Boat House Tavern in Union Beach for 28 years. He pitched in the Industrial Baseball League for a number of years as well as in the Minor League for the Detroit Tigers in 1937. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Marian Council No. 5960, Ocala. Mr. Pruchnik was predeceased by his wife of 61 years, Helen Skripko Pruchnik, in 1998; two sisters, Jane Klein and Wanda Cwiklinski; and a brother, Albert Pruchnik. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Don Bielak of Freehold; two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Kathleen Pruchnik of Hazlet, and Richard and MaryAnn Pruchnik of Sanford, N.C.; a brother, Casimir Pruchnik of Middletown; two sisters, Helen Skripko of Piscataway and Stella Smith of Beverly Hills, Fla.; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Mass was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. The Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to the American Red Cross Katrina Relief Fund, 399 West State St., Trenton 08618.

Donald E. Lovelace

Mr. Lovelace, 76, of Keyport, died Sept. 20 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Passaic, he resided in Newark before moving to Keyport 64 years ago. Mr. Lovelace was a tool and dye maker at Matawan Tool & Dye Maker, and a security guard in Matawan. He also worked as a handyman. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Lovelace is survived by his wife, Audrey Smith Lovelace; two daughters, Debbie Clarkson of Beachwood and Beverly Sanchez of Matawan; a son, Keith Lovelace of Lacey; and three grandchildren. The Day Funeral Home, Keyport, was in charge of arrangements.

Palma Tortoriello Tuccino

Mrs. Tuccino, 89, of Union Beach, died Sept. 23 at home. Born in San Gregorio Magno, Italy, she came to the United States in 1959 and resided in Lyndhurst and Rutherford before moving to Union Beach in 1985. Mrs. Tuccino was a homemaker. She was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach, and a member of the Senior Citizens of Union Beach. She was predeceased by her husband, Fiorino Tuccino, in 1995. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Peter and Eleanor Tuccino of Townshend, Vt., and Gerardo and Norma Tuccino of Tucson; two daughters and a son-in-law, Rose Tosca of Union Beach, and Pam and Michael Kovacs of the New Monmouth section of Middletown; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at Holy Family Church, followed by burial at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.

Elwyn Percival Fraser

Mr. Fraser, 85, of Goshen, N.Y., died Sept. 8 at the Orange Regional Medical Center, Goshen. Born on the island of St. Vincent, West Indies, his family migrated to New York City when he was 18 months old, and he resided in Keyport for 50 years, and New York prior to moving to Goshen. He was a composer and arranger, attended Juilliard School of Music, New York City, and played saxophone, clarinet, flute and piano. He played with musicians such as Ella Fitzgerald, Lionel Hampton, and Mercer and Duke Ellington. Following retirement from his career in music, he was employed at various United States postal services, and the data processing division at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, New Jersey. He served with the U.S. military during World War II from 1943-46. He was a member of the American Federation of Musicians, and the American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers. He was predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Madeleine Creed in 1999. He is survived by a daughter Delores Fraser McFadden, and grandson, Thomas McFadden, both of Monroe, New York. Arrangements were by Smith, Seaman & Quackenbush Funeral Home, Monroe, N.Y. A private memorial service will be held at a later date in New Jersey. Walter Juniewicz

Mr. Juniewicz, 93, of Middletown, died Sept. 23 at King James Nursing Home, Middletown. He resided in Point Pleasant prior to moving to Middletown. He was a retired self-employed house painter which he did for more than 50 years. He was predeceased by his wife, Evelyn in 2001. He is survived by a daughter, Carolyn McMillan of Middletown; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Burial was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
