Liam C. McClelland

Mr. McClelland, 26, of Toms River, died Oct. 17 at home. Born in Red Bank, he resided in Middletown Township prior to moving to Toms River three months ago. He was a carpenter and commercial fisherman at MI-JO, Atlantic Highlands, as well as several other area boats. He was a graduate of Middletown High School North. He was a communicant of St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, North Middletown. He was a member of the Sons of the Legion at American Legion Post No. 338, Leonardo section of Middletown. He enjoyed surfing, fishing and snowboarding. He was predeceased by his father, William “Pete” McClelland in 2004. He is survived by his mother, Catherine McClelland of Toms River; two brothers, Shamus McClelland of Middletown, and Al McClelland of Murphysboro, Tenn.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Catherine’s Church. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.

Mary DeLuca Trabucco

Mrs. Trabucco, 94, of Hazlet, died Oct. 10 at Regency Park Nursing Home, Hazlet. Born in Sicily, Massina, she resided in Belleville, Keyport and Brick prior to moving to Hazlet. She was a retired machinist at Monmouth Silversmiths, Shrewsbury. She was predeceased by her husband, Geraldo Trabucco in 1998; and a son, Anthony Trabucco in 2004. She is survived by a son, Jerry Trabucco of Hazlet; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Entombment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Toms River. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Harold J. “Hap” Halligan

Mr. Halligan, 77, of Port St. Lucie, Fla., and formerly Rumson and Oceanport, died Oct. 12 at home. Born in Jersey City, he was raised in Rumson. He was a retired member of the International Alliance of Theatrical State Employees, Local 52, New York City. Prior to that, he was employed at Bendix Corporation, Eatontown, for 36 years. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a former Chief of the Rumson Fire Department, an exempt and 51-year member of the Rumson Fire Company and Oceanic Firemen’s Relief Association. He was a life member of the New Jersey State Firemen’s Association, and one of the founders of Rumson boy’s baseball and Pop Warner. He was predeceased by a brother, Edward. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Carolyn R.; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Harold J. of Highlands, Robert and Ann of Rumson, Thomas and Barbara of Quakertown, Pa., and Paul and Jeanine of Atlantic Highlands; a daughter, Carol Halligan of Middletown; a brother, James of Rumson and Jupiter, Fla.; 10 grandchildren; and one great-grandson. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Holy Cross Church, Rumson. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to Rumson Fire Company, 140 E. River Road 07760.

James J. Murphy

Mr. Murphy, 92, of Matawan, died Oct. 14 at home. Born in Perth, Scotland, he was a lifelong resident of Matawan. He was a chief operator at DuPont, Sayreville, for 40 years, retiring in 1975. He was a communicant of St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church, Matawan. He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Holtz. He is survived by his wife, Rita M. Murphy of Matawan; two daughters, Carol Waybright and Maureen Kelly, both of Matawan; a sister, Irene Baldwin of Matawan; and three grandchildren. Entombment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Irene Mary Young

Mrs. Young, 85, of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, died Oct. 14 at Riverview Medical Center Red Bank. Born in Bayonne, she resided in Port Monmouth the past 73 yeas. She was a homemaker. She was an avid fan of the Mets and Giants. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert in 1982; a son, Kevin Young; a sister, Elizabeth Etzkorn; and a brother, Harry Collins. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Robert and Agnes Young, and James and Gail Young, all of Middletown; two daughters and sons-in-law, Gail and Emory Lowman of San Antonio, and Karen and Joseph Steinberick of Port Monmouth; a daughter-in-law, Janice Young of Port Monmouth; two sisters, Claire Crosby of Port Monmouth, and Joan Gifford of Spring Lake Heights; 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.

Edwin Sierra

Mr. Sierra, 46, of Middletown, died Oct. 16 at home. Born in Florida, he had resided in New York City and Northvale, Bergen County, before moving to Middletown in 1980. Mr. Sierra was the owner/operator of Absolute Audio, Middletown, the past 10 years. He was a member of Calvary Chapel Church, Old Bridge. Mr. Sierra is survived by his wife of 25 yeas, Miriam Ortiz Sierra; his parents, John and Luz Sierra of Howell; a daughter, Angela Emanuele of Middletown; a son, Edwin Sierra Jr. of Middletown; two brothers, John Sierra and David Sierra, both of Middletown; and a sister, Elizabeth Lepard of Howell. A funeral service was held at First Assembly of God Church, Shrewsbury, followed by burial at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. The John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements. Memorial donations may be made to Calvary Chapel-Old Bridge, P.O. Box 567, Old Bridge 08857.

Virginia A. Glow Nemeth

Mrs. Nemeth, 72, of the Cliffwood Beach section of Aberdeen, died Oct. 19 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in East Otto, N.Y., she resided in Newark before moving to Cliffwood Beach 43 years ago. Mrs. Nemeth was a hairdresser at Snookie’s Hair Salon, Aberdeen, before her retirement. She is survived by her husband, Joseph Nemeth; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and Frank Brown of Cliffwood Beach; a son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Elizabeth Nemeth of Glenfield, N.Y.; a brother, Lloyd Glow of East Otto; two sisters, Edith Church and Lucille Fleckenstein, both East Otto; four grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Interment took place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport. The Day Funeral Home, Keyport, was in charge of arrangements.

Charlotte Rausch

Mrs. Rausch, 98, of Middletown, died Oct. 19 at Care One Nursing Home, Holmdel. Born in Kearny, she resided in the Leonardo and Navesink sections of Middletown and in Wood Ridge and Florida before moving to Middletown. Mrs. Rausch was employed at RCA, Harrison, for several years. She was a swimmer and won several medals competing as a diver in the Amateur Athletic Union. She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Rausch, in 1967; and a sister, Estelle Nixon. Mrs. Rausch is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Edward and Mary Lou Rausch of Middletown, and Harold and Florence Rausch of Idaho; a daughter, Charlotte Rausch of New Jersey; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren. The John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements.
