Obituaries John F. Donnelly Mr. Donnelly, 80, of Keyport, died Nov. 13 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Newark, he resided in Matawan, Union Beach, and North Carolina, prior to moving to Keyport 53 years ago. He was a retired engineer at Hanson Van Winkle, Matawan, and was an engineer on the design of President’s Hall, Disney World, Orlando, Fla. He was also employed at Lily Tulip, Holmdel. He served with the U.S. Navy and was a recipient of the Purple Heart during World War II and Korean War. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179, Port Monmouth section of Middletown, and the American Legion, Union Beach. He was predeceased by his wife, Florence Donnelly in 1967; and a brother, Robert Donnelly. He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Armin Perseghin of Keyport; a sister, Frances Blair of Brick; his companion of 30 years, Ann Hayes of Keyport; a grandson; and three great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Interment followed at the church cemetery. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
Concetta “Connie” D. Turano McGeorge Mrs. McGeorge, 73, of Union Beach, died Nov. 14 at home. Born in Newark, he resided there prior to moving to Union Beach 45 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary at Union Beach Fire Company No. 1. She was predeceased by her husband, William J. McGeorge Sr. in 2002. She is survived by four sons, William J. McGeorge Jr., Gary McGeorge and Kenneth McGeorge, all of Union Beach, and Darren McGeorge of Piscataway; two sisters, Rosa DeBennedetto of Toms River, and Patricia Luettchau of the Belford section of Middletown; and seven grandchildren. Entombment was at Cloverleaf Memorial Park Cemetery, Woodbridge. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
Eunice Katherine Champi Mrs. Champi, 92, of Atlantic Highlands, died Nov. 12 in Red Bank. She was a secretary at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, for 45 years, retiring in 1985. Prior to that, she worked for the U.S. Government in various cities during World War II. She was a communicant of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Atlantic Highlands. She is survived by three sisters, Mildred Lyons of the Navesink section of Middletown, Ida Schilk of Mercerville, and Anne Stolarz of South Plainfield; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Agnes Church. Interment was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank.
Rose W. Walling Kane Mrs. Kane, 83, of Matawan, died Nov. 15 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Matawan, she was a lifelong resident. She was a retired customer-service representative at JCP&L Company, Allenhurst and Asbury Park, where she was employed 50 years. She was a communicant of, and member and past president of the Altar Rosary Society at St. Clement’s Roman Catholic Church, Matawan. She was also a member of the pastoral council of the Diocese of Trenton. Her memberships include the Matawan Democratic Club, Zoning Board of Adjustment, and Chamber of Commerce; and Monmouth County Office on Aging, and Women’s Democratic Club. She was predeceased by her husband, John P. Kane, in 1968. She is survived by two daughters, Jeanne Kane of Matawan, and Kathleen Uhrich of Little Silver; and three grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Clement’s Church. Interment was at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Keyport. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
Andrew J. Vanderstar Mr. Vanderstar, 33, of Hazlet, died Nov. 15 in Matawan. Born in Red Bank, he was a lifelong resident of Hazlet. He was a security operations manager at Building Securities, Woodbridge. He is survived by his parents Gerald and Maryann Cusamano Vanderstar of Hazlet; two sisters, Frances Lisnieski of Phillipsburg, and Karen Lewnieski of Mesa, Ariz.; four brothers and two sisters-in-law, Matthew and Jennifer Vanderstar of Indiana, Patrick Vanderstar of the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen, Paul Vanderstar of Matawan, and Michael and Danielle Vanderstar of Union Beach; and 13 nieces and nephews. Interment was at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
Mary A. Ryan Bizzoco Mrs. Bizzoco, 94, of Middletown, died Nov. 17 at Arnold Walter Nursing Home, Holmdel. Born in New York City, she resided in Keansburg before moving to Middletown in 1984. Mrs. Bizzoco was co-owner and operator of The Flamingo Tavern, Keansburg, where she worked for 20 years before retiring in 1972. She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. She was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Thomas Bizzoco, in 1990; five brothers, Jack Ryan, Edward Ryan, Cornelius Ryan, Patrick Ryan and James Ryan; and three sisters, Catherine Bolger, Margaret Vant and Helen Graham. Mrs. Bizzoco is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Emilia Bizzoco of Middletown; and a brother, Dennis Ryan of Schenectady, N.Y. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, followed by burial at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by the John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Valera M. Fitzgerald Ciecierski Mrs. Ciecierski, 81, of Keyport, died Nov. 17 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Keyport, she was a lifelong resident. She was a retired office manager at Ralph Friedland & Brothers, Keyport. She was a communicant of and usher at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was a member of Popcorn Park Zoo, Lacey. She was predeceased by her husband, Casimir Ciecierski in 2003; and a brother, Alvin Fitzgerald Jr. in 1981. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert C. and Deborah Ciecierski of Keyport; a brother, Kenneth Fitzgerald of Florida; two grandsons; and Mary Morello of Matawan. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph’s Church, with entombment at the church’s mausoleum. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
