Franklin & Marshall College, Lancaster, Pa., announced the following local students named to the dean's list for the fall semester:
Alexander DeMeo, a freshman and 2005 graduate of Ranney School, Tinton Falls, and son of Toni and Harry DeMeo, Holmdel; and Emily White, a senior English-creative writing major, graduate of Middletown High School, and daughter of Jill and Slaton White, Middletown.
Melanie Hoffman, Middletown, has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Marist College, Poughkeepsie, N.Y., where she is majoring in international business. She is enrolled in the Honors Program and selected to part of the Dean's Circle Program for the School of Management. She is also involved with Marist AROTC as a colorguard commander. A graduate of Communications High School, Wall, she is the daughter of Deb and Tom Hoffman.
Wayne Szpara, Matawan, recently received his Certificate of Completion of Related Instruction at the graduation ceremony for Middlesex County Vocational and Technical Schools. Szpara received the 2006 Class Representative Award in recognition of excellent records of scholastic achievement, and was one of eight graduates presented with satin stoles and certificates of membership to the National Technical Honor Society. Apprentice training is recognized nationally as an effective training method to prepare workers for careers in highly skilled technical and craft occupations.
