Siperstein’s Paint & Decorating has announced it will have a booth at the Jersey Shore Home Show Jan. 13-15 at Brookdale Community College, Newman Springs Road, Lincroft section of Middletown. The chain will present items from its collection of decorating products such as paints, wallpaper and window treatments. Staff members will also hold free seminars on faux finishing, and provide consultations on wallpapering, painting techniques and deck rejuvenation. Ladies Workout Express, 1008 Route 34 south, Matawan, will hold its grand reopening Jan. 28 and 29 from 2-6 p.m. The club is under the new ownership and operation of Kitty Gonzalez and Joyce Candido. Robert Brant Sr., Middletown, was recently honored as a “60-year honoree” by The International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) Local 164, Paramus. The IBEW honored 42 members for distinguished service to the electrical industry throughout Hudson, Bergen and Essex counties in New Jersey. The IBEW includes approximately 750,000 members worldwide working in fields such as utilities, construction, telecommunications, broadcasting, manufacturing, railroads and government.
Assemblyman Sam Thompson (R-Monmouth) will sponsor “My Medicare Matters” Jan. 19 from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Bayshore Senior Center at the New Point Comfort Firehouse, 193 Carr Ave., Keansburg. The free event is designed to help seniors that would like individual help with the new Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage. Medicare-trained counselors will meet with each individual to help find the best plan, and will also help seniors enroll in the plan. A Part D expert will also discuss the different ways the program will help individuals with Medicare pay for prescription drugs and will answer questions about the program. Appointments are required, and the number of appointments is limited. Attendees should also bring actual medications or a list of medications including dosages and cost. Indigo Planet Records, Aberdeen, will host a monthly showcase series at the Saint, Asbury Park beginning in February. The first showcase Feb. 15 will feature Indigo Planet recording artist and Asbury Music Award winner April Smith. The March 15 showcase will include Smith, Asbury Music Award-winner Rick Barry, and two New Jersey based singer-songwriters Nell Bryden and Michael Brett. Indigo Planet released its first CD Dec. 3. CPC Behavioral Healthcare’s Walk-Around Wine Tasting on Nov. 14, hosted by Restaurant Nicholas of Middletown, raised $1,400 in net proceeds to benefit CPC’s counseling programs. Board member and tasting organizer Lori Goldstein of Rumson noted that the wine tasting was an opportunity to share with attendees how CPC Behavioral Healthcare provides hope to more than 6,000 children, teens and adults living with depression, excessive anger, mental illness, substance abuse, or disabilities that impact learning. CPC Behavioral Healthcare President & CEO John Mans thanked Nicholas Harary for hosting the third successful wine tasting at Restaurant Nicholas and donating 20 percent of the wine sales to the foundation.
