| A Hazlet woman who was charged with robbing and killing an Asbury Park man on New Year’s Eve pleaded innocent to the charges.
Angela Pizzarelli, 24, was charged last week with murder, felony murder, armed robbery and conspiracy to commit armed robbery in the shooting death of 27-year-old Saahron Jones in his Seventh Avenue home on Dec. 31 at about 10 p.m., when Asbury Park police arrived and found Jones dead from a gunshot wound.
Pizzarelli appeared in court on Thursday to answer the charges, and pleaded innocent through her public defender, Regina Sauter. For the time being, Pizzarelli is being held at the Monmouth County jail in Freehold on $1.5 million bail.
A motion to reduce Pizzarelli’s bail is currently pending.
Pizzarelli previously served nearly six months of a six-year sentence for an Ocean County robbery and nearly half a year for a parole violation, according to Department of Corrections records.
Besides Pizzarelli, two other men who police believe were involved in the crime are being sought.
“We will continue our efforts in apprehending all participants in this robbery homicide case,” said Monmouth County Prosecutor Luis Valentin in a press release.
Anyone with information on the matter is asked to call Detective Michael Meany of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office at (800) 533-7443 or Detective Terry Williams of the Asbury Park Police Department at (732) 774-1300.
