Anthony J. "Gyp" Mantlick

Mr. Mantlick, 83, of the New Monmouth section of Middletown, died April 12 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Gary, W. Va., he resided in Newark, prior to moving to the Middletown area in 1951. He was a metal spinner at C.B. Kaupp & Sons, Maplewood, for 42 years, retiring in 1987. He served with the U.S. Marines During World War II and received a citation for "excellent service as an artillery liaison in Iwo Jima." He was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. He was predeceased by a sister, Margaret Mantlick in 1998. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Charlotte Kaucky Mantlick; two sons and daughters-in-law, Dennis and Joan Mantlick of New Monmouth, and Mark and Cathie Mantlick of Brielle; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melissa and Edward Hesler of the Leonardo section of Middletown, and Nancy and Frank DiMarco of the Belford section of Middletown; a sister, Bulah Geyer of Belford; a brother, John Mantlick of Dover; and 10 grandchildren. A funeral liturgy will be April 19 at 9:30 a.m. at St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements are by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Chester C. Zarkowski

Mr. Zarkowski, 82, of the West Keansburg section of Hazlet, died April 14 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. He was born in Passaic. He was a sheet metal mechanic at Lucent Technologies, Holmdel, retiring in 1990. He is survived by a son, Steven Zarkowski of Eatontown; and a daughter, Kim Bentley of Shark River Hills. A funeral liturgy will be April 19 at 10:15 a.m. at St. Ann's Roman Catholic Church, Keansburg. Burial will follow at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements are by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.

Carmelo Galluzzo

Mr. Galluzzo, 87, of Middletown, died April 5 at Care One at King James, Atlantic Highlands. Born in Italy, he relocated to the United States in 1955 and resided in Brooklyn, N.Y., before moving to Middletown 12 years ago. Before his retirement, Mr. Galluzzo was a carpenter at Gulli Construction, Staten Island, N.Y., where he was employed 55 years. He was a former member of the Middletown Senior Center. He was predeceased by his wife of 35 years, Rose Cipolla Galluzzo, in 1989. Mr. Galluzzo is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Giovanni and Connie Galluzzo of Clinton; a daughter and son-in-law, Josephine and Sal Guttadauro of Middletown; a sister, Candida Domenico of Bolzano, Italy; and five grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Interment was at Moravian Cemetery, Staten Island. The John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, was in charge of arrangements.

Kristin A. Kinlin

Miss Kinlin, 28, of Middletown, died April 10 in Cleveland, Ohio. Born in Red Bank, she resided in Middletown most of her life. She was a classified and legal coordinator at The Courier Newspaper, Middletown. She was a graduate of Monmouth University, West Long Branch. She enjoyed music and movies. She is survived by her parents, Theresa and William Kinlin; two step-brothers and sisters-in-law, Tracy and Jen Kinlin of Italy, and Robert and Jodie Kinlin of Hobe Sound, Fla.; and three nephews. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.

Walter L. Sherman Sr.

Mr. Sherman, 69, of Hazlet, died April 5 at Community Memorial Hospital, Toms River. Born in Newark, he resided in Toms River, and the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, prior to moving to Hazlet 14 years ago. He was a truck driver at City and Suburban Newspapers, Moonachie, and was in the newspaper business for more than 40 years, retiring in 2000. He served with the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. He was a member of the Marine Corps League, Marine Corps League Devil Dogs, and Korean War Veterans. He was also a member of American Legion Post No. 338, and Post No. 338 Police, Leonardo section of Middletown, and Marine Corps League Honor Guard. He was predeceased by his wife, Henrietta Taylor Sherman in 2005. He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Walter and Kathleen Sherman Jr. of Middletown, John V. and Diane Sherman of Edison, and Michael and Laura Sherman of Brick; seven grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.

Lloyd Curtiss Jr.

Mr. Curtiss, 85, of Middletown, died April 7 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in South Orange, he resided in Middletown the past 50 years. He was director of government affairs at PepsiCo Inc., Purchase, N.Y., for 22 years, retiring in 1988. Prior to that, he was an executive at Batton, Barton, Durstein & Osborn Advertising Agency, New York City. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a recipient of the Combat Infantryman Badge, and in 2002, the New Jersey State Distinguished Service Medal. He was a former Monmouth County Republican Committeeman. He enjoyed sailing. He was predeceased by a sister, Martha Potter. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Merion; a son, Peter Curtiss; three daughters, Mary Beth Curtiss, Donna Little, and Tracy A.B.C. Burke; and 12 grandchildren. Entombment was at Holmdel Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel. Arrangements were by Holmdel Funeral Home. Memorial donations may be made to Monmouth County Historical Association, F.B.O. Arthur A. Taddio

Mr. Taddio, 77, of Old Bridge, died April 10 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided in New York, Ohio and Perth Amboy, prior to moving to Old Bridge eight years ago. He enjoyed playing pool. He was predeceased by a sister, Josephine Taddeo. He is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Carol Taddio of Matawan. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. Interment was at Holy Trinity Cemetery, Hopelawn. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Timothy J. Pauxtis

Timothy Pauxtis, 10, of Middletown, died April 11 following a courageous battle with a brain tumor. Born in Red Bank, he was a lifelong resident of Middletown. He was a fourth-grade student at Middletown Village School. He was a Cub Scout in Pack No. 142, and a first-degree black belt at Middletown Tae Kwon Do. He enjoyed school, and his friends and teachers. He is survived by his parents, Susan and Joseph Pauxtis; two brothers, Andrew and Jason; his maternal grandparents, Pauline and Edward Antonelle of Toms River; his paternal grandparents, Patricia and Joseph Pauxtis of Lincoln, Calif.; four uncles; one aunt; and several cousins. A funeral liturgy was held at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by John F. Anna Jansen Jones

Mrs. Jones, 90, of Union Beach, died April 8 at her daughter's home in Union Beach. Born in Jersey City, she was a lifelong resident of Union Beach. She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Harris Gardens Fire Company, Union Beach. She was predeceased by her husband, Vernon C. Jones. She is survived by three daughters, Verna Palumbo of Hazlet, and Sandra Siegle and Gloria Reilly, both of Union Beach; nine grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren. Interment was at Shoreland Memorial Gardens, Hazlet.
