Obituaries Frank M. Cangelosi Mr. Cangelosi, 86, of Holmdel, died April 23 at home. Born in New York City, he resided in Staten Island, N.Y., prior to moving to Holmdel in 1977. He was a life insurance agent at Metropolitan Life, Staten Island, for 25 years, and became a partner for Industrial Molded Products Inc., Roselle, retiring in 2003. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a communicant of Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. He was a member of the Holmdel Kiwanis, and Knights of Columbus, Staten Island. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Mary Achilarre Cangelosi; two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Joyce Cangelosi of Middletown, and Ralph and Josephine Cangelosi of Ocean; a brother, Joseph Cangelosi of Florida; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A funeral liturgy will be April 26 at 10 .m. at Holy Family Church, followed by entombment at Fair View Mausoleum, Middletown. Arrangements are by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Eugene L. Clark Mr. Clark, 83, of Keyport, died April 23 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Newark, he was a lifelong resident of Keyport. Mr. Clark was a mechanical draftsman at Hercules Inc., Parlin, for several years, retiring in 1985. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a communicant of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Keyport, where he was a past altar server and usher. He was a member of St. Clement's Seniors and the Hazlet Seniors. Mr. Clark was predeceased by his first wife, Lorraine Clark; a sister, Margaret Hanlon; and a brother, Walter Clark. He is survived by his wife, Julia Clark; three sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas and Leisa Clark, and John and Carol Clark, all of Burke, Va., and Kenneth and Abigail Clark of Toms River; two daughters and sons-in-law, Marie and Donald Campbell of Hazlet, and Patricia and Thomas Huchko of the Dayton section of South Brunswick; a sister, Dorothy O'Shaughnessy of Florida; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated April 26 at 9:15 a.m. at St. Joseph's Church, followed by interment at the church cemetery. The Day Funeral Home, Keyport, is in charge of arrangements. Alice M. Murphy Mrs. Murphy, 73, of Howell Township, died April 11 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided there prior to moving to Howell 40 years ago. She was a homemaker. She was a parishioner at the Church of St. Veronica, Howell. She was a member of the Women's Auxiliary of the Howell Knights of Columbus Council No. 6201, where her husband was a Grand Knight, and Howell Senior Citizens Club. She was predeceased by her husband, Barry in 1997. She is survived by a brother, John Gaynor of Hazlet; and several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Veronica's Church. Entombment was at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood. Arrangements were by Clayton & McGirr Funeral Home, Freehold Township.
Grace Mirabito Moleta Mrs. Moleta, 87, of Middletown, died April 12 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided in Middletown the past 31 years. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. She was predeceased by her husband, Vincent Moleta in 1985. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Rosetta and Vincent Moleta of the Leonardo section of Middletown; two granddaughters; and a great-grandson. Albert P. Olsen Sr. Mr. Olsen, 81, of Jersey City, died April 13 at Care One at Holmdel. He was born in Bayonne. He was a paper handler at Met Life, Edison, retiring in 1993. He was predeceased by a sister, Marie Fugitt. He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Albert "Pete" Jr. and Dee Olsen of the Cliffwood section of Aberdeen; a brother, John Olsen of Edison; three sisters, Ann Reitzel of Verona, Norma Reed of Ellenton, Fla., and Erma Nazario of North Arlington; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Interment was at Holy Name Cemetery, Jersey City. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
Jane M. Beckett Mrs. Beckett, 69, of Middletown, died April 15 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in New York City, she had resided in England, New York and Hazlet before moving to Middletown 28 years ago. Mrs. Beckett was a self-employed editor. Prior to that, she was a legal secretary for Giordano, Halleran and Ciesla, Middletown, and for a New York City law firm. She was an elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church, Middletown, and a member of the board of trustees at Shadow Lake Village, Middletown. Mrs. Beckett is survived by her husband, Peter Beckett; two daughters and a son-in-law, Nadine and Patrick McCaffrey of Point Pleasant, and Tess Ames of Portland, Ore.; and three grandchildren. A memorial service was held at Westminster Church. The John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, was in charge of arrangements.
Bridget "Breeda" Joyce Mrs. Joyce, 61, of the Leonardo section of Middletown, died April 16 at Cornell Medical Center, New York City. Born in County Limerick, Ireland, she came to the United States in 1962 and resided in Bayonne before moving to Middletown Township in 1966. She was a cafeteria manager at Thorne Middle School, Middletown, for more than 20 years, retiring three years ago. She was a communicant of St. Agnes Roman Catholic Church, Atlantic Highlands. Mrs. Joyce is survived by her husband, Martin; a daughter, Ann Joyce of Middletown; a son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Cindy Joyce of Middletown; a brother, John O'Connell of Ireland; four sisters, Joanie Barrett of England, Angie Nimz of Chicago, Peggy Healey of England, and Nora Hunt of Dunedin, Fla.; and three grandchildren. Frank D. Cook Mr. Cook, 80, of Keyport, died April 17 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Keyport, he was a lifelong resident. He was an auto painter at B&W Auto Body, Port Monmouth section of Middletown; Sue's & Son, Perth Amboy; and Union Auto Body, Union Beach; retiring at age 65. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of the U.S.S. Gambler Bay Association, and the Keyport, and Hazlet Seniors. He was predeceased by two daughters, Eileen Schachtel and Arlene Foley; and two brothers, George Cook and Carl Cook. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth R. Senson Cook of Keyport; a son-in-law, Larry Schachtel of Keyport; three grandchildren; and a nephew. Interment was at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Keyport. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
Patricia M. Konkus Mrs. Konkus, 56, of Middletown, died April 17 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Jersey City, she was a lifelong resident of Middletown. Mrs. Konkus was a legislative aide for Assemblyman Joseph Azzolina, Middletown, and secretary of the Western Monmouth Chamber of Commerce, Freehold. Prior to that, she was an accountant at Hess Oil Co., Woodbridge. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. Mrs. Konkus is survived by her husband, Mark Konkus; a daughter, Amanda Swoope of Matawan; a stepson, Keith Konkus of Somerset; her mother, Helen Praskai of Middletown; a brother, Andrew Praskai Jr. of Red Bank; and a sister, Carol Ann Force of Middletown. Eleanor V. Shortmeyer Mrs. Shortmeyer, 83, of Howell, died April 17 at The Manor, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had lived in Long Island, N.Y., and Monroe Township before moving to The Villages in Howell in 2000. Mrs. Shortmeyer was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, Robert H. Shortmeyer Sr., in 1982. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Robert H. Jr. and Kathleen Shortmeyer of Freehold Township; a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Arthur Goodman of Mongaup Valley, N.Y.; and three grandchildren. Vincent "Jimmy" Di Maiolo Sr. Mr. Di Maiolo, 81, of Middletown, died April 19 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he resided in Hazlet before moving to Middletown nine years ago. Mr. Maiolo was a custodian for the Hazlet Board of Education. Prior to that, he was a machinist at Old Town Carbon and Ribbon Co., Brooklyn. He served with the U.S. Army 1st Calvary Division in the Pacific Theater during World War II. He was a member of Hazlet Fire Company No. 1. Mr. Di Maiolo is survived by his wife of 56 years, Elizabeth Tovello Di Maiolo; four sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Shelly Di Maiolo of Salisbury, Md., Anthony and Betsy Di Maiolo of Germantown, Tenn., John and Nancy Di Maiolo of Middletown, and Vincent and Lori Di Maiolo Jr. of Manchester; and nine grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Benedict's Roman Catholic Church, Holmdel, followed by entombment at St. Joseph's Mausoleum, Keyport. Anthony L. Bersani Mr. Bersani, 47, of East Brunswick, died April 17 in Saint Peter's University Hospital, New Brunswick. He began his career as a stringer/freelance reporter for the Associated Press. He worked for the Atlantic City Press and the Asbury Park Press before being named managing editor of The Home News (now Home News Tribune). He later worked for Dow Jones, South Brunswick, before returning to the Associated Press as project manager, where he worked for the past three and one-half years. He was predeceased by his father, Angelo C. Bersani. Surviving are his wife, Stacey McDonnell Bersani; a daughter, Angela Bersani, at home; his mother, Pauline Bersani of Elk Township; a brother, Angelo C. Bersani Jr. of Orlando, Fla.; and a sister, Carolyn Ferrucci of Franklin Township, Gloucester County. A Mass was offered at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Thomas J. Keenan Sr. Mr. Keenan, 58, of Little Egg Harbor, died April 18 at home. Born in New York City, he relocated to Long Branch in 1974, prior to moving to Little Egg Harbor. He was a member of the Lions Club, Long Branch, Lumbersmen Association, and The National Railroaders Association. He was predeceased by his parents, Thomas and Marie. He is survived by his wife, Donna Keenan of Little Egg Harbor; a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas J. and Shana Keenan of Little Egg Harbor; two daughters and one son-in-law, Tina and Heath Nelson, and Colleen Keenan, all of Little Egg Harbor; two sisters, Patricia Keenan of Citrius Heights, Calif., and Paulette Keenan of Keyport; a brother-in-law, John Netterwald; a grandson; and three nephews. Anita M. Perrini Wyman Mrs. Wyman, 91, of Middletown, died April 18 in Middletown. Born in Orange, she resided in Binghamton, N.Y., prior to moving to Middletown 45 years ago. She was a retired commodity manager at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown. She was a past president of Port Monmouth Fire Company Women's Auxiliary, and Scout Mothers Group Troop No. 88, Port Monmouth section of Middletown. She was also a charter member of Port Monmouth School PTA. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Wyman. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael N. and Joan Wyman, and Robert and Pat Gilgannon Wyman, all of the Belford section of Middletown; a brother, Nicholas Perrini of North Carolina; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. John H. Sierra Mr. Sierra, 72, of Howell, died April 19 at home. Born in New York City, he resided in Middletown, prior to moving to Howell seven years ago. He was a foreman at CNS/RPS, Edison, for several years. He was predeceased by a son, Edwin Sierra; and daughter-in-law, Debbie Sierra. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Luz Sierra; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth and John Lepard of Middletown; two sons and one daughter-in-law, John Sierra, and David and Sandy Sierra, all of Middletown; a daughter-in-law, Miriam Sierra of Middletown; a sister, Alice Camacho of Brooklyn, N.Y.; and eight grandchildren.
