Obituaries Eileen Hogan Mrs. Hogan of Middletown, died July 29 at CareOne, Holmdel, following a battle with cancer. She resided in Middletown for more than 60 years. She was a parishioner at St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth section of Middletown, and most recently at St. Catherine's Roman Catholic Church, Middletown. She was a member of the Middletown Senior Center, and Bayshore Leisure Club. She enjoyed time with her family. She was predeceased by her husband, William J. Hogan; and a brother, Gerald Tsuruoka. She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Bill and Monica Hogan of Middletown, and Terry and Danielle Hogan of Burlington, Vt.; a daughter and son-in-law, Claire and Gus Gustafson of Edwards, Colo., a brother and sister-in-law, George and Catherine Tsuruoka of Evanston, Ill.; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. A funeral liturgy will be Aug. 2 at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine's Church. Arrangements are by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown. Margarita G. Moran Pelayo Mrs. Pelayo, 82, of Hazlet, died July 6 at home. She was born in Havana, Cuba. She was a pharmacist at International Flavors & Fragrances, Hazlet, for 30 years, retiring in 1988. She was a communicant of Jesus the Lord Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was predeceased by her husband, Luis P. Pelayo; and a brother, Jorge Moran. She is survived by two daughters, Pilar P. Curvey of Red Bank, and Ileana Donnelly of Hazlet; and four grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Jesus the Lord Church. Interment was at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
Katherine A. Murray Koehler Mrs. Koehler, 69, of Hazlet, died July 26 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Queens, N.Y., she resided in Hazlet the past 40 years. She was a registered nurse at Lutheran Medical Center, New York City. She was a member of St. John's Methodist Church, Hazlet. She enjoyed time with her family, travel, and shopping. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. She is survived by her husband, Robert C. Koehler; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Rick and Katharine Koehler of Middletown, and John Koehler and Kevin and Monica Koehler, all of Hazlet; a daughter, Lori Bachmann of Hazlet; a sister, Judy Hermann of California; and five grandchildren. A funeral service was held at St. John's Church. Entombment was at Holmdel Mausoleum. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
Santa Marie Velardi Kolendriski Mrs. Kolendriski, 67, of Hazlet, died July 27 at home. Born in Jersey City, she resided there before moving to Hazlet 43 years ago. Mrs. Kolendriski was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her mother, Marguerita Corio; and two brothers, Salvatore Velardi and Vincenzio "Junior" Velardi. Mrs. Kolendriski is survived by her husband, John Kolendriski; a son and daughter-in-law, George and Jane Kolendriski of Hazlet; two daughters and sons-in-law, Cathleen and Peter Graczyk of Jackson, and Marguerita and Joseph Holmes of Hazlet; her father, Vincenzio Velardi of Hazlet; a brother, Louis Velardi of Lyndhurst; and seven grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church, Union Beach. Interment was at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Keyport. The Day Funeral Home, Keyport, was in charge of arrangements.
Edith M. Logan Kooken Mrs. Kooken, 84, of Middletown, died July 28 at home . Born in Orange, she resided in the Colonia section of Woodbridge, prior to moving to Middletown five years ago. She was a secretary to the CEO at Pathmark, Carteret, for 22 years, retiring in 1984. She was predeceased by her husband, Jack E. Kooken in 1996. She is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Chris and Howard Bergman of Middletown; a sister, Eleanor Robinson of Clarkesville, Va.; a brother and sister-in-law, Richard A. and Anna Logan of Livingston; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Burial was at Hollywood Memorial Park Cemetery, Union. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
Harriet McKeown Vaccarella Mrs. Vaccarella, 77, of Hazlet, died July 29 at home. Born in Jersey City, she resided in Hazlet several years. She was a retired secretary at Atco Tile Company, Keyport. She was a member of Keyport Seniors. She was predeceased by two brothers, John McKeown and James McKeown. She is survived by her husband, Edward Vaccarella; her sister, Catherine Finnerty of Hazlet; and several nieces and nephews. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.
Richard Frank Kelly Mr. Kelly, 75, of Freehold Township, died July 30 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. Born in Spring Lake, he resided in Neptune, prior to moving to Freehold 43 years ago. He was a retired salesman at Sears, Freehold. He was a 42-year member of the First United Methodist Church, Freehold, where he also held several offices. He served with the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was a volunteer fireman in Neptune, a volunteer at Open Door of Freehold, member of the Kiwanis Club, Freehold, and coached Little League. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Rose Schlechtweg Kelly; two sons and daughters-in-law, Kevin and Ann Marie Kelly of West Chester, Pa., and Kenneth and Erin Kelly of the Navesink section of Middletown; a daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Walter Karpiak of Southampton; a sister, Anne McClain of Tucson; and seven grandchildren. Arrangements were by Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold.
