George C. Wu

Mr. Wu, 90, of Aberdeen, died Sept. 5 at home. Born in Hong Kong, he resided in Queens, N.Y., prior to moving to Aberdeen 25 years ago. He was a retired administrator at Prudential Insurance Company. Prior to that, he was employed at the American Consulate, Hong Kong, for 25 years before relocating to the United States. He was predeceased by a son, U.S. Army Lt. Col Daniel Wu in 1989. He is survived by two daughters, Cathy Yeung of Matawan, and Pauline Ip of Aberdeen; a sister, Kit Chee Wong of Texas; three brothers, Daniel Ng of Hong Kong, John Ng of Australia, and David Ng of Texas; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. Interment was at Rosedale Cemetery, Linden. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Eileen T. Butler

Miss Butler, 71, Red Bank, died Sept. 7 at Atlanticare Regional Medical Center, Atlantic City. She resided in Fair Haven most of her life prior to relocating to Red Bank 11 years ago. She was employed at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, for 34 years, retiring in 1988. She was a communicant of Church of The Nativity, Fair Haven, and served on its basic needs, library, and other committees. She was an active member of the Fair Haven Fire Company Auxiliary, and voted "life member" for a lifetime of service. She was a tutor volunteer at Red Bank Middle School. She is survived by two brothers, Jim of Fair Haven, and Jack of Eatontown; five nieces and nephews, Jo Heath and Jill Evans, both Fair Haven; Jim Butler of Middletown; Jack Butler of Philadelphia; and Bridget Kaniewski of Phoenixville, Pa.; and five grand-nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at Church of the Nativity. Arrangements were by Thompson Memorial Home, Red Bank. Memorial donations may be made to Fair Haven Fire Company Auxiliary, River and Battin Roads, Fair Haven 07704.

Genevieve R. Poling Barrett

Mrs. Barrett, 86, of Keyport, died Sept. 7 at home. Born in Keyport, she was lifelong resident. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Church, Keyport. She was predeceased by her husband, Eugene E. Barrett; a son, Eugene W. Barrett; and two brothers, William Poling and Stanley Poling. She is survived by two sons, James Barrett of Athens, Tenn., and William Barrett of San Jose, Calif.; five daughters, Judith Wolf of Rumson, Susan Grzyb of Little Egg Harbor, Carol Riley of Florence, Genevieve Bagnell of the Monmouth Junction section of South Brunswick, and Marian Barrett of Keyport; a sister, Adele Wheatley of Lakehurst; 16 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Joseph's Church, with entombment at St. Joseph's Mausoleum, Keyport. Arrangements were by Day Funeral Home, Keyport.

Louis H. Hauffe

Mr. Hauffe, 95, died Sept. 3 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in Newark, he resided in the Oranges, prior to moving to Monmouth County 10 years ago, with Hazlet as his last town of residence. He was employed at General Motors, Linden, for 35 years, retiring in 1972. He was an active member of All Saints Church, Orange, prior to moving to the area. He was active in Scouting, an avid Yankee fan, and enjoyed camping and fishing. He also received several awards for weight lifting. He was predeceased by his wife of 66 years, Edythe Costa Hauffe in 2000; and a grandson, Scott in 1994. He is survived by two sons and one daughter-in-law, Bruce and Janis Hauffe of Hazlet, and Barton Hauffe of Toms River; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Mary Hauffe of Forked River; a sister, Marguerete Bragg of Bellevue, Wash.; four grandsons; and five great-grandchildren. Arrangements were by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
