Laurel Bay Health & Rehabilitation Center, 32 Laurel Ave., Keansburg, will present "Legal, Legislative and Ethical Aspects of Clinical Care in the Long-Term Care Setting" Oct. 5 from 5 to 8 p.m. Guest speaker will be Laurie Loughney, licensed nursing home administrator (LNHA), certified assisted living administrator (CALA), certified social worker (CSW). The seminar has been approved for continuing education units ranging from 2.5 to 3 units. The seminar will also feature networking, and dinner. Patricia Freeman, Lincroft section of Middletown, was honored by the AARP at its annual volunteer recognition awards ceremony at Grounds for Sculpture, Hamilton, in mid-September. Freeman joined 20 other New Jersey volunteers who were recognized for contributions to improving lives of individuals age 50 and older through outstanding community service, social impact initiatives and member recruitment efforts. Presenters at the ceremony included state Sen. Barbara Buono and Assemblywoman Linda Greenstein.

Gabrielle Oden, 30, Middletown, graduated from Burlington County Police Academy in commencement exercises Sept. 13. The officer completed more than 20 weeks of intensive training as a member of the 91st Recruit Class at the Academy. Officer Oden served in the U.S. Navy from 1994 to 1997. She and her husband, Matthew, a Monmouth County Sheriff's Officer, are parents of two sons.

Brent Howard, Holmdel, has been promoted from regional vice president to senior vice president of construction lending for Sun Bank's Central Jersey market. He will continue to be responsible for developing lending relationships and assisting in the credit approval process for construction loans throughout the bank. He also manages a portion of Sun's construction lending team. Howard has more than 25 years of credit, commercial mortgage, and commercial and industrial lending experience. Prior to joining Sun, he held positions at Marine Midland Bank, Hudson United Bank, and the FDIC. He is a also counselor for the Service Corps of Retired Executives (SCORE).

Monmouth County Sheriff Joseph W. Oxley, Middletown, recently completed his term as president of the Constitutional Officers' Association of New Jersey with the swearing in of his successor, Ocean County Clerk Carl W. Block Sept. 14. The Association represents the sheriffs, county clerks, surrogates and registers of the states 21 counties. Oxley is also president of the American Jail Association, and has served as Monmouth County sheriff since 1996.
