Grand jury indicts four in Keyport bar robbery
BY KAREN E. BOWES
Staff Writer

FREEHOLD - Four people have been indicted in connection with the 2005 robbery and assault of a 32-year-old borough man.

On Nov. 15, Dominick Gallucci, 45, of Somerset, and his brother, Mark Gallucci, 42, of South Amboy, were each charged by a grand jury with robbery, aggravated assault and conspiracy. According to police, the charges stem from a Dec. 26 incident at Smith's Bar, Broadway and West Front Street, Keyport.

Bar patron Darlene Locorriere, 49, of Cliffwood, was charged with conspiracy and complicity, while bartender Ashley Mulcahy, 34, of Laurence Harbor, is charged with hindering the apprehension of another.

According to authorities, the Gallucci brothers were patrons of Smith's Bar on Dec. 26 when they allegedly followed the victim into the bathroom. There, they allegedly assaulted him and took his cash. Locorriere was present at the time of the incident and allegedly drove the brothers away from the scene before police could arrive.

Mulcahy, the bartender, initially denied she knew the Gallucci brothers. However, police later discovered she had been in phone contact with the Galluccis before and after the incident. Mulcahy is charged with attempting to implicate other bar patrons as responsible for the crimes.

The arrests and indictments were the result of a cooperative investigation between Keyport Police Department and the Gang Investigation Unit of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

"This crime goes beyond the robbery and assault the Galluccis committed on a fellow bar patron in a vulnerable position," Monmouth County Prosecutor Luis Valentin said in a press release. "Locorriere helped them get away and Mulcahy attempted to divert the police's attention away from them."

If convicted on all counts, the Gallucci brothers face a maximum of 25 years in jail. The breakdown of the sentencing constitutes 10 years for robbery, 10 years for conspiracy and five years for aggravated assault. Under the No Early Release Act, the brothers must serve at least eight and a half years if convicted of the robbery.

Both men are being held at Monmouth County jail in lieu of $225,000 bail.

Locorriere faces 10 years for each of her charges. She was released on $50,000 bail.

Mulcahy faces five years in prison. Her bail was set at $25,000.
