County residents graduate Citizen Police Academy

FREEHOLD - Twenty-eight residents successfully completed the 12th annual Citizen Police Academy as part of a graduation ceremony held on Nov. 8 at the Monmouth County Police Academy in Freehold.

Sheriff Joseph Oxley was joined by United States Marshal James Plousis, who presented a program on the U.S. Marshals Service prior to the graduation ceremony.

Citizens Police Academy strives to build cooperation and understanding between law enforcement and the residents they serve through classroom discussion and group interaction. The program is offered in cooperation with the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office, Police Academy and the Prosecutor's Office.

Residents selected for the 10-week program receive classroom instruction on topics including crime prevention, crime scene investigations, narcotics awareness, the various divisions of the Sheriff's Office, international policing, emergency management, women in law enforcement, and the U.S. Marshals Service.

Graduates were: Edward Marchetti, Aberdeen; Wilbur Bishof and Trudie Dodig, Atlantic Highlands; Anita Dedalis, Colts Neck; Pat Yanchurak, Rosemary Aburto, Francisco Aburto, Patricia Yoczis, Scott Saylor, Theresa Potenza, Grace Soden, Carol Ann Stevenson, Nicholas Trotta and Linda Giacalone, Freehold; Robert Stone, Hazlet; Kenneth Rosenstock, Charles Stinson and June Holloway, Howell; Dan Adler and Robert Beccarelli, Middletown; Joseph Parody, Manalapan; Kevin DeYoung, Matawan; Peggy Renkel, Marlboro; Tina Morgan, Ocean; Elizabeth Vallis, Rumson; Arthur Isaacson, Shrewsbury; Raymond Miller, Spring Lake Heights; and Victor Huhn Sr., West Long Branch.

Undersheriff Ted Freeman coordinated the Citizen Police Academy assisted by Sgt. Kevin LaGravenis of the Monmouth County Sheriff's Office, and Cpl. Charles Condone, Long Branch Police Department.
