Hazlet Rec Commission thanks supporters

The Recreation Commission would like to extend our appreciation to all who helped put together our fourth annual “Thanksgiving Dinner Celebration” on Nov. 21.

We could not have had such a wonderful dinner without the donations from Provident Bank, Foodtown, Dearborn Farms, Burger King, ShopRite, Pathmark, Dixie Lee Bakery, Hazlet employees, RAINE (Patty Dickens, coordinator) and Girl Scout Troop No. 817. All leftover foods were distributed to families with special needs.

We would like to thank the West Keansburg Fire Company, who by offering the use of their facility made this event so comfortable for our guests and for our “chefs,” who were able to work in such a spacious area. Thanks also to our team of tireless volunteers — our “chefs” who cooked turkeys and baked desserts, and to those who worked wonderfully together in the kitchen, setting up, serving, and so much more — many of whom return each year, allowing us to continue this annual celebration.

Also, the holiday entertainment by Perna Dance Studio; Katie DeAngelo, Danielle Curstin and Kelly Rockford from the Brian Sexton School of Irish Dance; the Raritan High School dance troupe (Robin Sharkey, coordinator); and Pat “M.C.” McCarthy, who provided enjoyment for all ages.

We apologize to any volunteers we may have missed mentioning, but please accept our heartfelt thanks for all your help — this celebration could not have been done without you. Most of all, thanks to all our guests for helping make our Thanksgiving holiday a really meaningful one by “giving” and allowing us to be part of your extended family.
