Lauren Igneri, Aberdeen, was named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Rutgers University, Piscataway, where she is pursuing a doctor of pharmacy degree and enrolled in the honors program at the Ernest Mario School of Pharmacy. A 2004 graduate of Matawan Regional High School, she is the daughter of Leslie and Ron Igneri.

Erica Palermo, Matawan, has been named to the dean's list for the fall semester at St. John's University, Queens, N.Y., where she is majoring in communication arts. She is the daughter of NancyJo and Richard Palermo.

Paulina Han, Holmdel, has been inducted into the Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society at Syracuse (N.Y.) University, where she is a sophomore at the Martin J. Whitman School of Management.

Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pa., announced the following local students named to the dean's list for the fall semester:

Andrew J. Cusick, Lincroft section of Middletown, a 2006 graduate of Christian Brothers Academy, Lincroft, and son of Denise and James Cusick;

John P. Kelly, Middletown, a graduate of Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School, Rumson, and son of Diane and William Kelly; and

David J. Palframan, Middletown, a 2005 graduate of Middletown High School South, and son of Heather and John Palframan.

Julianne Pepitone, Lincroft section of Middletown, and a junior at Syracuse (N.Y.) University, recently took first place in feature writing in Rolling Stone's 28th annual college journalism competition for the article "Young Soldier Puts Broken Life Back Together." Pepitone co-wrote the article with her writing partner, Allie Baker of Langhorne Pa. Entries were judged by Rolling Stone editors, and a $2,500 prize was awarded in three categories. Pepitone's picture and biography is in the current issue of Rolling Stone, and the contest is mentioned in the editor's letter. She is majoring in magazine journalism and psychology at Syracuse.

Monmouth County Culinary Education Center (CEC), Asbury Park, a collaboration between Brookdale Community College and the Monmouth County Vocational School District, announced a total of $19,000 in scholarships awarded to 21 area students. Local recipients are Tara DeNardo of Aberdeen and Frank Ciappina and Jacqueline T. D'Angelo, of Middletown. The local certificate program student, chosen along with three others, to receive a $500 scholarship was Denise S. Rogers, Middletown.

Theresa Manning, Hazlet, was named to the dean's list for the fall semester at Rochester (N.Y.) Institute of Technology, where she is a third-year students at the College of Applied Science and Technology. A 2004 graduate of High Technology High School, Lincroft section of Middletown, she is the daughter of Ann and Ed Manning.

St. Joseph School, Keyport, was awarded first place at the Trenton Diocese's Mission Reach-Out event Nov. 2 for its contributions to the Holy Childhood Association (HCA) Missions for the 2005-06 school year. St. Joseph School raised $7,449.40 for the HCA. St. Joseph School has been picked as next year's host for the Mission Reach-Out on Oct. 25, 2007.
