Fight Supreme Court's decision on Abbott Districts

So New Jersey, are we any better since Gov. Corzine has taken office? I would have to say no. No tax reform, shut down of government services in July, and an increase to the sales tax. Yet is that bad? There must be some light at the end of the tunnel, right? Hmmm - is it because the municipalities are not really working together to consolidate services as the governor has requested?

So I would like to ask that each municipality in the state of New Jersey engage our local school boards to all meet together, pool the resources of the Board of Education attorneys and fight the Supreme Court ruling on the 30 Abbott Districts. This is a large reason why our townships receive such little state aid each year for our schools, which in turn increases our taxes each year for the increase in teacher contracts, benefits, retirements, etc. What if collectively we can work on overturning this? Maybe it will be the incentive for others to see how this form of teamwork and consolidation is the step in the right direction for future projects and overall brainstorming of consolidation with municipalities.

I don't believe that this is the complete solution to all of our needs, but it could be a start. Sure we need to better negotiate contracts, find new ways to create additional revenues, and overall reduce unnecessary spending. Governor, could this be considered to be an olive branch to you? It will show how many different communities are coming together for the same cause. In the end it is what you have stated needs to happen - working to together to consolidate services. Can we have your support?
