The Matawan-Aberdeen Chamber of Commerce will sponsor the sixth annual business and professional expo March 27 from 6-9 p.m. at St. Clement's Reception Center, 172 Route 79, Matawan. Mommy-Moves! fitness stroller classes are now being held at Monmouth Mall, Eatontown, and new outdoor classes are planned for spring in the Rumson/Fair Haven area, Middletown and Long Branch. The program was created and is taught by former trainer and mother Lori Sawyer, Middletown. Classes are designed to help lose weight, tone, and tighten while spending time with children. Bayshore Community Hospital's Vassar Eye Clinic, in recognition of Low Vision Awareness Month during February, is urging adults to schedule a low-vision examination. The exam may be in order if an individual is having difficulty reading a newspaper or other fine print even while wearing glasses, seeing traffic signals or highway signs, seeing the curb when walking, adapting to light when entering indoors, with glare at all times, distinguishing objects or colors, and recognizing faces. Bayshore Community Hospital is at 727 N. Beers St., Holmdel. The eye center is open Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., with no appointment required. Elite Chiropractic and Wellness Center, 1 Bethany Road, Hazlet, is taking part in "Baby, It's Cold Outside," the statewide hat, glove and scarf drive sponsored by the Association of New Jersey Chiropractors. The Monmouth County Sheriff's Office has been acknowledged for its child support program. The New Jersey Child Support Council presented the 2006 award to the Sheriff's Office at the New Jersey Child Support Conference in early February. The office was recognized for its hard work in addressing child support issues and their crackdown on offenders who don't provide children with court-ordered financial support. The Monmouth County Family Division, Monmouth County Probation Division and the Monmouth County Welfare Division were also presented with awards for efforts. The awards were determined by total statistics as well as the collaborative work between the agencies.

The Jersey Shore Association for Human Resources (JSAHR) will present "Consumer Directed Healthcare and Pensions - Who's Responsible?" March 8 from 8-10 a.m. at Branches, 123 Monmouth Road, West Long Branch. Joseph Torella, vice president of marketing/sales of Savoy Associates, and David Koch, owner of Two River Benefits Consultants, Ocean, will give the presentation. The New Jersey Chapter of the American Society of Interior Designers and St. Barnabas Hospice and Palliative Care Center will present "Chairs for Charity" March 11 at The Robert B. Meyner Reception Center at PNC Banks Arts Center, Holmdel. Cocktails and auction preview are from 5-6 p.m., and the dinner and auction 6-9 p.m. The event is a black-tie-optional auction and gala to benefit St. Barnabas Hospice at Newark Beth Israel Medical Center, and Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. The chair auction will feature indoor and outdoor chairs, and antique chairs, as well as chairs signed by celebrities, such as Joe Pesci and Frankie Valli.

Michael T. Qaissaunee, associate professor of engineering and technology at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown, has been named the two-year associate program level winner of the Global Wireless Education Consortium fifth annual Wireless Educators of the Year Award. He shares the distinction with graduate-level winner, Dr. Moe Z. Win, of Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The award recognizes distinguished college and university educators and roles in preparing tomorrow's wireless technology leaders. Qaissaunee is founding director of the Mid-Atlantic Institute for Telecommunications Technologies established through funding from the National Science Foundation to develop cutting-edge technician education programs in wireless communications.
