Lori Anne Oliwa, Middletown, has received the 2007 Trailblazer Award from the New Jersey Association of Women Business Owners (NJAWBO), Hamilton. Oliwa is the first recipient of the award created to honor her for outstanding achievements in the area of public policy, legislative advocacy and political empowerment for women business owners. She serves on the NJAWBO state board of governors as the vice president of public affairs, and is responsible for all advocacy and legislative efforts. Oliwa also serves on the board of her local NJAWBO Monmouth-Ocean Chapter.
She is the owner of MerchantServiceSpecialists.com, a merchant services consulting and credit card-processing company. She is the founding chair of the Women's Political Caucus of Monmouth County, and former board member of the Northern Monmouth Chamber of Commerce.
The Jersey Shore Public Relations and Advertising Association will hold its next meeting May 4, at 11:30 a.m. at Branches, 123 Monmouth Road, West Long Branch. Guest speaker will be John Rosica, founder of Rosica Strategic Public Relations, and creator of the Famous Amos marketing campaign. He will discuss "Branding Commodity Products." The Jersey Shore Association for Human Resources will hold its next meeting May 10 from 8-10:30 a.m. at Jumping Brook Country Club, 210 Jumping Brook Road, Neptune. Guest speaker will be Dennis Butler, vice president, associate relations at Liz Claiborne, presenting "Domestic Violence is Everyone's Business." He has spoken about domestic violence as a workplace issue at conferences for the FBI and other industry groups. Cost is $35 for nonmembers, $25 for members, and an extra $5 for walk-ins. Pamela Rossano, Lincroft section of Middletown, received the New Jersey Hero Award from the March of Dimes New Jersey Chapter at a ceremony in late March. She is a labor and delivery nurse at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, where she established the infant bereavement support group. She also runs a monthly support group for parents that have experienced a loss and assists with the education of nurses and nursing students at the hospital on this subject. Additionally, she leads the medical center's Resolve Through Share program. Rossano is also involved with the Monmouth County Health Department Medical Reserve Corps and helps soldiers and families.
