Army National Guard Pvt. Jorge H. Morejon Jr. has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks of training, he studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, military weapons, chemical warfare and bayonet training, drill and ceremony, marching, rifle marksmanship, armed and unarmed combat, map reading, field tactics, military courtesy, military justice system, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises. A 2003 graduate of Keansburg High School, he is the son of Jorge Morejon of Harrison, and Marlene Perez of Middletown.

Former Middletown resident Commander John Lawless USN has returned from a tour of duty in Iraq where he was awarded the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious service. The tour was Lawless's second tour in Iraq. He flew 37 missions during the Desert Storm conflict in 1991. Commander Lawless is a graduate of Middletown High School North. He received his bachelor's degree at Pennsylvania State University, University Park, and master of business administration degree at Benedictine College, Atchison, Kan. He is the son of Audrey and William Lawless of Middletown. He and his wife Michelle reside in Bristol, R.I.
