Aberdeen CERT to hold course in near future

The Aberdeen Township Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) has announced it will conduct an initial training course for new members in the near future.

Members must be age 18 or older. CERT members give support to first responders, provide assistance to victims, and organize spontaneous volunteers in the event of an emergency. Participants will be required to undergo 20 hours of instruction during an eight-week period. The course covers disaster preparedness, disaster fire suppression, disaster medical operations, light search and rescue operations, disaster psychology and team organization, terrorism, and a final exercise.

For more information, call Herb Caravella, CERT coordinator at (732) 583-4200, ext. 799; or Chief of Police John Powers at (732) 583-4200, ext. 221.
