FISH programs begin June 3 at Sandy Hook

The New Jersey Marine Sciences Consortium's (NJMSC) 2007 Families Investigate Science Hands-on (FISH) program will begin with "On Sandy Shores," June 3 at 1 p.m. The program is an in-depth look at sand and seashells.

"Terrific Terrapins" explores the habitat of and provides an up-close look at diamondback terrapins June 9 at 3 p.m.

"Happiness is a Horseshoe Crab" will be June 9 at 6:30 p.m. and will consist of a twilight walk to learn all about horseshoe crabs. Attendees are guided by an NJMSC instructor, and each program is tailored to provide participants with a chance to use equipment like seine nets and microscopes, and investigate sand, shells, crabs and fish.

Each program lasts approximately two hours, and each cost $7.50, and free for children younger than age 3.

Preregistration is highly recommended. To preregister or for more information, call (732) 872-1300, ext. 30, or visit www.njmsc.org.
