Man guilty of luring 'teen'

MIDDLETOWN - A Pennsylvania man pleaded guilty last week to charges of attempted sexual assault and luring a child, stemming from an incident in Middletown early last year.

Jordan J. Litto, 34, of Washington Crossing, Pa., was arrested on Jan. 26, 2006, by members of the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office and the township's police department after he traveled to Middletown with the expectation of engaging in sexual acts with a teen he encountered on the Internet. The supposed "teenager" ended up being a detective from the Prosecutor's Office Computer Crimes Unit posing as the youth. Litto continually initiated sexual conversation, even after being told that the person he was chatting with was underage, according to authorities.

"The resolution of this case should serve as a significant deterrent and warning to others contemplating similar acts in Monmouth County or elsewhere," Monmouth County Prosecutor Luis A. Valentin said in a press release. "Those who use the Internet to prey upon children for their own corrupt ends will find themselves facing stern punishment as a result."

Litto is scheduled for sentencing on Aug. 17 before Superior Court Judge Bette E. Uhrmacher.
