Rebecca's Reel Quilters meeting June 7
Rebecca's Reel Quilters Guild will hold its next meeting June 7 from 7-9 p.m. at Poricy Park Nature Center, Oak Hill Road, Middletown. Deborah Tiryung Sidwell will present a retrospective of her art quilts at the meeting. Her work is primarily composed of her own printed and painted fabrics enhanced with embroidery and beading. Church's 'Heavenly Gift Auction' June 8
Middletown Reformed Church will hold its sixth annual "Heavenly Gift Auction" June 8 at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4303, Davern Lane, West Keansburg section of Hazlet. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the auction begins at 7 p.m. Price is $10 per person, which includes admission, three sheets of penny tickets and a door prize ticket. Homemade baked goods, hot dogs and soda will be available for purchase. Proceeds support the youth group's outreach ministries and educational retreats. Children's Day will be June 10, and the New Jericho Youth Choir will perform two anthems and the skit "Miracles, Signs and Wonders." All are invited to attend. Shakespeare concert slated for June 9
The Monmouth Civic Chorus will be joined by award-winning high school students for "Sounds Like Shakespeare Act II," June 9 at 8 p.m. at Two River Theater, 21 Bridge Ave., Red Bank. The sequel to the chorus's 2006 Shakespeare concert celebrates the Bard in music from Broadway to jazz. It will feature a solo by Kerilyn Acer, Mater Dei High School, New Monmouth section of Middletown, first-place winner of the 2007 Monmouth Civic Chorus Scholarship Award. Dramatic readings will be performed by Katie Kroeper, Middletown High School South, second-place winner of the 2007 Shakespeare competition for high school students, sponsored by the English-Speaking Union, Monmouth County branch. Holmdel's Citizens for Informed Land Use (CILU) will hold its next meeting June 11 at 8:15 p.m. at Holmdel Senior/Community Center, Crawfords Corner Road. Vendors sought for Bayshore craft fair
Bayshore Health Care Center is seeking vendors for its 18th annual craft fair Sept. 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Bayshore Community Hospital, 727 N. Beers St., Holmdel. Price is $30 for a six-foot table, with proceeds benefiting the residents' recreation fund. Crafters must supply canopies, if desired. Deadline for addresses for yard sale June 8
Keyport Business Alliance will accept address listings for street maps for the townwide yard sale through June 8. Atlantic Artisans, 68 First Ave., Atlantic Highlands, will hold an opening reception for "Photorealism," June 9 from 6-8 p.m. The exhibit runs through June 30. It features works in acrylics by artist Liz Gembarski, Leonardo section of Middletown. The reception will feature music by local musicians Sherilyn and Frankie M., also Leonardo. Gembarski recently graduated of Rowan University, Glassboro, and has been employed with Atlantic Artisans the past four years. She uses technical skill and accuracy to construct the physical world on a two-dimensional surface. The gallery will also display artwork from several other local artisans. Concordia Chorale to perform June 10, 15
The Concordia Youth Chorale will present a performance June 10 at the Middletown United Methodist Church, 924 Middletown-Lincroft Road; and June 15 at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, 800 Ocean Ave., Long Branch. MacLeod-Rice House golf outing June 11
The Friends of the MacLeod-Rice House at Croydon Hall will hold the first golf outing June 11 at Pebble Creek Golf Club, Colts Neck. Registration and lunch begin at noon, the shotgun start is 1 p.m., and reception and dinner are at 6 p.m. Price is $110 per person or $400 per foursome, and the event is limited to 140 golfers. Deadline June 12 to apply for 'Mission Matawan'
The First Presbyterian Church of Matawan is accepting applications from members of the community requiring assistance in repairing and maintaining homes for its "Mission Matawan 2007" which runs June 25-30. Application deadline is June 12. The mission assists the elderly, handicapped and individuals lacking the resources to deal with yard work, home repair and maintenance. Annual ride for autism June 9 in Lincroft The New Jersey Center for Outreach and Services for the Autism Community (COSAC), and Ride for Autism will hold the seventh annual "Ride for Autism Charity Bicycle Tour" June 9 from 6:30 a.m.-4 p.m. The ride will be at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft section of Middletown. More than 600 riders and volunteers will participate in the event, with proceeds benefiting COSAC and families affected by autism across New Jersey. 'Blessing of the Fleet' slated for June 9 Atlantic Highlands Yacht Club, Simon Lake Drive, will host the annual "Blessing of the Fleet" June 9. The procession of boats will begin at 1 p.m. Dozens of boats dressed in a display of flags will circle the harbor and pass by the dock to receive the blessing along with salutes from the officers of the club with a sounding of a cannon. The blessing will be offered by the Rev. Joyce Smothers of the First Presbyterian Church of Atlantic Highlands. All local boaters are invited to join the procession.
