Leah Scaramuzzo, Hazlet, a treatment nurse at The Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ), New Brunswick, was honored for "Excellence in Education" and received the first CINJ Nursing Scholarship at the annual Nurses Day held in mid May. The former Edison resident is an oncology education specialist at CINJ, a division of Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Scaramuzzo developed, implemented and teaches the center's treatment patient orientation program and oversees the facility's resource and learning center.
The Northern Monmouth County Branch of American Association of University Women will hold its last meeting of the year June 4 at 6:30 p.m. at Monmouth Beach Cultural Center, 128 Ocean Ave. Pat Squire will give approximate 24 book reviews in one hour at the meeting. There will also be appetizers, and attendees are asked to bring an appetizer to share. The meeting is free and open to the public. For more information, call Joan (732) 530-9546.
United Teletech Financial (UTF), has announced the opening of its new site at Holmdel Towne Center, Route 35. UTF left its original Holmdel site due to the recent close of the Lucent building. The branch features couches, flat-screen LCD TVs, a coffee bar, and Internet kiosks. A ribbon cutting and cocktail reception will be June 6 from 4:30-5:30 p.m., and a family fun day grand opening featuring Holmdel's Westminster Dog Show Champion bull terrier, Rufus, June 9 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m.

Geoffrey Griffing, Metuchen, has been promoted to vice president, community banking manager, at Sovereign Bank Community Banking Office, Middletown. He will be responsible for all business and team member development.
Griffing joined the bank in 2006 and was previously assistant vice president, community banking manager. Griffing is president-elect of the Rotary Club of Hazlet, and a member of the Keyport Senior Center Advisory Committee. He received his bachelor's degree in economics at Binghamton (N.Y.) University.
Matawan-Aberdeen Educational Foundation has received a $5,000 community grant from The Columbia Bank Foundation in support of the Educational Foundation's "Instruments in the Attic" program. The program provides students the opportunity to lean how to play a musical instrument.
