Former resident had no trouble tuning out Keyport siren

I have been reading about the complaints of the sirens used to summon the firefighters/first aid in Keyport. Boy, does that make my blood boil! I lived between two firehouses for almost 32 years, Second and Waverly streets. Ever notice the siren in the backyard? That was 50 feet from my bedroom window.

Seems to me that we didn't lose much sleep. Raised five kids there and they did just fine in school - many times the 6 p.m. test went off and we didn't even realize it. After a while you don't really hear it unless you are listening for it.

The siren tells you help is on the way. Then on the other hand, maybe you never needed them (fire or first aid). I wasn't that lucky, but thank you - I got help and saved my home and my life.

If this is the only disruption in your life, get on your knees and thank the Lord 'cause you are blessed. Another thing that you might do: volunteer - fire or first aid. You may have a whole new outlook.
