Chairperson impressed by Memorial Day experience

This was the first year I had the honor of chairing the Matawan Memorial Day parade. The support I received from fellow recreation commission members as well as the wonderful response from the parade reminds me again of why I chose to live in Matawan.

The police department did an outstanding job with traffic control and keeping the parade safe for the participants as well as the spectators. The fire department and visiting fire departments added the spirit that gives this parade its meaning. It was great to have the first aid and their family members support the parade as well. They are all very hard-working groups of individuals who support us all when we need it most. The grand marshal, veterans, church groups, athletic groups, 4-H group, along with the Scouts, added to that sense of a close-knit community we call Matawan.
