Summer enrichment offered for middle school students MIDDLETOWN - Monmouth County middle school students will have the opportunity to experiment with science and technology this summer through a summer enrichment program for academically motivated students. The program is open to all Monmouth County middle school students, including those children who will be entering the sixth grade in September. High Technology High School is a magnet school on the campus of Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, that draws its enrollment from all of the middle schools in the county. "We run these summer programs to let students know what the school is about," said Peter Borchardt, an engineer who teaches computer science and digital electronics at High Technology High School. "It's a fun way to spend the week and learn some stuff." Each academic program runs for one week and includes hands-on activities. The classes, which have a maximum of 20 students, run all summer and cost $175 each. Students may sign up for more than one program, Borchardt said. The programs being offered are Problem Solving in the Environment; Introduction to Scientific Inquiry; Experimental Design; Building Digital Circuits; Magnetic Levitation Technology; Solar Car Technology; Invention and Innovation Through Design.
