Apply by June 30 for Sheriff Youth Week
Monmouth County Sheriff Joseph W. Oxley has announced that applications are being accepted from Monmouth County high school-aged students for participation in the 16th annual Sheriff Youth Week program July 16-20. Deadline for applications is June 30.
The free program is held from 7:45 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Monmouth County Police Academy, Freehold. Students will be given the opportunity to explore interests in law enforcement through police academy style training and instructional sessions by municipal, county, state and federal law enforcement agencies. There will be drills, physical training and ceremonies.

Hazlet open space public outreach meeting June 28
The Hazlet Township Open Space Advisory Council will hold a public outreach meeting June 28 at 8 p.m. at town hall, 1766 Union Ave.
The township established an Open Space Advisory Council to make recommendations to the Township Committee for acquisition of land utilizing the Open Space Trust Fund established on Jan. 1. To get pre-approval for matching grants from Green Acres Programs, the council will compile an Open Space & Recreation Plan that will include a "wish list" of the land to add to its inventory of open space. The council is seeking input from residents for parcels of land to be considered when compiling the Open Space & Recreation Plan.
Outdoor concert at Bayonet Farm June 30
Bayonet Farm, 41 Middletown Road, Holmdel, will hold an outdoor concert June 30 at 5 p.m. (rain date July 1).
Featured will be No Outlet and The Birdhouse Party Crashers, and Pat Guadagno. Attendees should bring a lawn chair or blanket, and food and non-alcoholic drinks are permitted. Admission is $5 per car. E-mail care4bayonetfarm@aol.com.
