Events at concerts are a wake-up call

Thank you for your attention to the issue of underage drinking through your reporting of the issues at the PNC Arts Center. The events at the Gwen Stefani concert could have ended tragically - let us take this opportunity to come together as a community and take a stand against childhood drinking.

Alcohol is the most abused drug by children in our community, more than tobacco or any other illicit drug. Effective prevention must be consistent and continuous in our messages - we, as parents, professionals, police, educators, businesses - must all agree that this is an issue that warrants our collective attention. Parents have a tremendous influence on their children - take this opportunity to discuss this issue with them. For free resources to assist you, please call the Prevention First resource center at (732) 663-1800, ext. 216.

The recent events are a wake-up call - and together we can make a difference!
