Resident concerned about animals in Hazlet park

As a fairly new resident to Hazlet, I was excited to find out that the local park had animals. A few Sundays ago I decided to take my 2 1/2-year-old grandson. I was horrified by the conditions these animals were in. My grandson couldn't stop saying "yucky." The rabbits had no water - this was a 80-degree day - and one was lying in its own fur and feces. The ducks, pig and goats' water had algae (this does not happen overnight), the food looked rancid, and the pens where filthy.

I called the parks department and there was no answer, so I notified the local police and was told they would try to get someone down there. This wasn't a one-time occurrence, because my daughter went back a few days later and nothing had changed. If Hazlet is not going to take care of these animals, why have them? Send them off to a petting zoo. They'll feel better and so will I.
