DiMaso trying to reinvent herself to voters
Armed with green signs, green mailers, and a notably "green" stance, Holmdel Mayor Serena DiMaso seeks to reinvent herself to voters as a candidate that wishes "to continue her fight on behalf of our open space and quality of life," as she notes in her most recent campaign literature.
Of course, this is the same person who opposed the acquisition and preservation of the F&F Nurseries, and spearheaded changes to weaken award-winning conservation zoning to allow more land development and less preserved open space. As mayor, she has failed to preserve a single acre of open space. In fact, as a member of the Planning Board, she helped accelerate approval of a new residential development on a 200-acre tract in south Holmdel, compressing a full year's review into only a matter of months. A year before she claimed that she would not be "bullied" by a developer proposing residential housing on the Lucent site, she voted with the majority on the Township Committee opposing a motion to restrict residential housing on the same tract.
With a track record like this, one must wonder how much open space will be left in Holmdel if voters allow Mayor DiMaso to continue to fight on their behalf.
